When Object Desktop 2009 is released, this is where the known issues will be posted. Please post your findings here as well. Thank you!
Notes and Known Issues: (all issues are being worked on at this time)
Theme Manager 3.0 (Published at 11am)
- Aero Midnight theme included as a .suite file for Object Desktop customers.
- My Desktop / Save My Desktop: Dreams, skins and cursors sometimes do apply when saved as part of a suite. Please apply through the Applications tab as a workaround at this time.
- Applications / Cursors: Sometimes cursors take two applies before applying.
- My Desktop / Create New Theme: The Download URL function is not working at this time.
- Please update SoundPackager before applying sounds through Theme Manager 3.0.
- Users will need to open SoundPackager one time to have sound packages show up in Theme Manager 3.0.
- Fixed - On systems that do not have MyColors installed, an error about the StardockWeather.ocx file not being registered will display when applying weather gadgets.
- The Aero Midnight skin does not extract and apply 100% of the time on faster hardware.
Deskscapes 2.5 (with XP support published at 1pm)
- With a Dream file applied dragging and dropping icons from the desktop to a folder does not work at this time.
- Please visit this web site to review video card requirement details. In short, AGP Video cards are not supported at this time. Future driver updates from NVIDIA/ATI will add support later this year. At that time only AGP 8x will be supported (4x/2x/1x bus speeds are not adequate to support dream functionality at low CPU).
- The Watercolor Dream may exhibit some distortion on Windows XP.
Bootskin Pro 1.0 (published at 6:30pm)
- There is a new WinCustomize gallery for Windows Vista bootskins. Boot skins created for XP will not work with Bootskin Pro.
- Bootskin Pro allows users to create boot skins for Windows Vista, so boot skins created for XP can be re-generated and uploaded to WinCustomize.
- Bootskin Pro Create boot skin tab will attempt to read your Object Desktop Ultimate serial from the registry. If the serial number field is blank, paste in your Object Desktop Ultimate serial number to create a boot skin.
- There may be an issue with .bootskin file associations on some systems.
WindowBlinds 6.3 (published on 11/18/2008)
- Windows Vista 64-bit users may need to reboot after install if skins do not apply correctly.

Also are you in 32 bit colour depth?
The laptop is connected to a port replicator with only the external (primary) display active at 1600 x 1200 resolution, 32-bit depth. Honestly, I haven't tried it on the notebook's LCD yet. I'll give that a shot and see if there's any difference.

Sadly this didn't work either It asked me to restart as there were updates to Impulse, it now shows 3.10.330 (images 3.10.174) (build 942) so only the images seems to have changed. However Bootskin Pro did not show as needing an update so I uninstalled it and then reinstalled I got the same version again 1.00.027

No luck on the standalone notebook, either. I get the same problem running at 1440 x 900. Also, for what it's worth, I disable my desktop icons to get the .Dream running. After minimizing a full-screen window, the .Dream is gone and replaced with a solid-color desktop.
Any ideas?

Vista Ultimate 32 here - Bootskin Pro still not applying...

My deskscapes on Vista is working well, only one thing. It puts an icon in the systray and upon mouseover it says that Deskscapes is paused while on battery power. But I am on battery power and the deskscape is running...lol.

I also just read a post in DeskScapes for XP that suppoet for AGP video cards isn't yet available. Is this true?
Correct, here is the long answer. We have been working with the video card manufacturers to improve performance running dreams with low CPU utilization on AGP cards.
At this time we have had success obtaining driver updates that perform very well on AGP 8x. These driver updates have not been released by the manufaturer at this time. Until these updated drivers have been installed, dreams running on AGP cards utilize 100% of the CPU.
We expect the video card manufacturers to release the updated drivers to support AGP later this year. With that said, we have tested these new drivers on AGP 8x and 4x. Only AGP 8x provides the necessary bandwidth to run a dream. AGP 4x will not be supported.
Any word on this "update"? I'm actually a beta tester for ATI drivers and they are not even aware of anything being done when I checked with them.

Bootskin Pro update.
There is a new version of Bootskin Pro that fixes the problem on English clients. (1.00.035) We had two issues that were confusing the issue, one was an international issue. We are still working on the non-English issue and hope to have resolution shortly.
Also, Bootskin Pro was not showing up for Object Desktop (non-Utlimate) users. It should be showing up shortly.

We are working directly with some of the developers at ATI. There are many different parts of the development and BETA testing teams. We have a driver in our possession that we are BETA testing that resolves the CPU utilization issue.

I hate to bring bad news, but....
Just incase it's not a temporary or intentional thing: I lost Bootskin Pro entirely now. (Object Desktop Ultimate subscriber)

Any ideas?
Just re-apply. This is an issue with the fact that we are sharing the dialog for desktop properties. Sometimes settings left over can get applied inadvertantly.

Do you see 1.00.035

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your first sentence.. Thanks.
I also appreciate you bringing it to our attention. You should see it now.
This happened when we were adding Bootskin Pro to the Object Desktop (non-Ultimate) accounts.

after resetting the data under Preferences, Impulse updated itself and then the .37 build of Bootskin Pro is shown as available. I can't download it, though. Impulse says my registration info for that app is not valid.

I've lost Bootskin Pro also from impulse. I think I can safely say that this is the first time I've had any sort of problem with impulse at all. It was there earlier, Impulse downloaded an update for itself, re-started, and *poof* it was gone. Any idea'rs Zargon buddy???? old pal....old buddy!!!

If you had taken a moment to check through the last 5 or so posts, you'd notice that they are aware and working on it.
And it's there now!
Reply #180 Thursday, November 20, 2008 6:17 PM
hehe........Maybe if I had just waited a few more minutes....A quick check for updates and "Poof" it's back along with all the other updates for OD 2009

Open the preferences page in impulse and choose "reset data", that should hopefully be enough.
