What Would You Like to See in WindowBlinds for Windows 7?

Tuesday, January 27, 2009 by Island Dog | Discussion: Personal Computing

Now let me make it clear from the start that I’m just looking for feedback on features you would like to see for WindowBlinds in Windows 7.  Many people are trying the Windows 7 beta, and through your experiences so far, is there anything different you would like to see WB try to accomplish?

Please be specific and screenshots and mockups would definitely be welcome.

Better support for using large (120 dpi) fonts and custom size fonts.

Some apps are non-standard and need to be excluded.

Just because this software is not installed on every PC should not be an excuse to exlude it from working with Windowblinds. This software is being used on many HP's, Gateways, Dells, etc. I wouldn't exactly call in "non-standard". Are you involved in the development of Windowblind? If so, Have you seen my submitted ticket regarding this issue? And why hasn't any one been in-touch with me on this? The Tech's that I've talked to can only forward the info to the the developers for further support. So, If you are the almighty challange yourself and see if you can make Eztune compatible with Windowblinds again as it was in ver. 6.03 and prior.

When I say non-standard I mean that the app doesn't apply skins as defined by Microsoft; it does something different.  So WB tries to skin it . .  and can't.  WB can't be coded to handle every crazy thing some developer tries to do.  Sorry.  I'll look into your case though, OK?

I agree with the first part of #9. I understand that the window itself needs to be square/rectangular, but why can't the frame around the window be something like this:

WB supports that.  But how would it be usable?

Also . . skinning the command prompt.

Reduced 89%Original 667 x 336

Done.

LOL! Actually looks good!

Unfortunately, the spelling in the command prompt is correct. Sooooo.....That could NEVER be Zu's!

Seriously?

I'd like to see WB and all of SD's apps put their documentation, etc. in just one place.

Everyone I've spoken with is unhappy about how SD apps deposit stuff in "My Documents" etc.

Apart from the files it puts in Programs, it should have it's own Directory and stay there. SD's dociments (etc.)

are not "My Documents".

Art is art silly boy. The usage would be purely a function of the mind and ultimatly that is what matters most.

Am testing 7 at present, and using objectdock (free), and right click (my favorite add-in) with no problems as of yet. I have trie Iconpackager; didn't work, so have been lurry of trying others.  Fix the bug in windowblinds that for some reason makes you have to load some skins twice so you get the name of the skin instead of "unknown"  This happens in Vista 32 bit and 64 formats (not with all skins. could name a soon but the list would be long).  Thanks.

Oh, something else, not sure it is possible but a drag and drop would be nice in windowblinds, and iconpackager.

Drag and drop what?

Double clicking installs skins for both.

I'd like to be able to change/adjust the colour of the fonts.

For Zubaz in reply 26 and Spartan in reply 30. Gimme a break guys, I ain't no graphix designer (and I obviously ain't no english teacher neither  ) That was just a quick (and ugly) pic to get my point across. The REAL graphic designers that hang out here could design frames that would have all yer fuction buttons and so forth. Even something that would allow just the title bar to be customized "outside the box (so to speak)"would be a nice change of pace.

My point was that you can do that now.  Sorry the other question took the forefront.
