Don’t forget to clean out those PC filters! Because I did....

It is a good time to give your PC a little maintenance. I also got a new SSD drive just for games, and while I was installing that I was amazed at the amount of dust that has accumulated in the case. I had to disassemble the CPU cooler to get all the years of dust that got trapped in the heat sink.

If that's your PC, you're lucky it hasn't burned up - yet.

That's pretty impressive
Mine get lovely at times too, but I do believe you've outdone me

I just put in a new video card and I blew everything out. I clean mine twice a year.

My beast is too big/good looking to hide on the floor...so it sits on my desk adjacent to my monitor [it weighs over 100lb]....and being elevated gets significantly less crud being sucked in...once every 2 years is sufficient...
Tho part of that could be the modular compartmentalized design of the case...

i used to use canned air to blow stuff... but stopped since i got this machine 5 years ago... as i'm afraid i might have done more harm with that on the previous machine. (maybe not leaving it to warm back up for long enough time and too impatient to wait after a spray.. also too impatient to wait for a machine to cool down between the time i turn it on in the morning and the time when i think it won't disturb the neighbours if i hoover and spray the machine)
probably irrational... but at least the current machine has a detachable filter at the front... which i guess helps a bit. oddly i only see the stringy bits (only a tiny amount) in 2 places... inside the side panel where i can put a vent/fan if i want, or inside the front door opposite the intake fan. it's a fractal r5 case.

probably irrational..
Probably....
It's not 'just' the thick bits...cat hair etc that clogs the airways....it's the really fine 'house dust' [mostly flakes of your skin] that can settle over everything.....and just add humidity changes and you can have a short.
With older cases I've used...that had gauze mesh over the intake fans I'd add a sheet of toilet paper as a dust particle filter, and put up with the increased fan loading/noise.
The current Level 10 case is its own heat-sink so the fans are only on/noticable during boot. Normally the only way you know it's on is to look at the lights...

LOL, I'm ashamed, Spencer! JK. But yeah, how did you forget such a crucial thing?
