Start11 v1.46 Arrives with Quality-of-Life Updates
Making it easier to close a window
Tuesday, June 27, 2023 by BradSams | Discussion: Start News
Today we released Start11 v1.46 with a new feature that makes it easier to close a single window for Windows 11 users. The update is rolling out now and you can check for it manually by opening the Start11 settings panel -> about -> check now.
Currently with Windows 11, by default, when you right-click on a taskbar icon, you have the option to “Close all windows on this display” but what if you only want to close one window, such as when you using a browser? With the update that is rolling out now, we have updated the option, based on the feedback of our users, to only close the window that is actively selected from the taskbar.
Start11 vs Windows 11
This is a small change but the feedback from our users was clear that this is the preferred option. This functionality works with any app where multiple windows are open (File Explorer, Paint, Notepad, etc.) and is a small, but meaningful, quality-of-life improvement.
In addition to the new feature, there are enhancements to how the Windows key functions including the ability to enable a block when a full-screen application is running and enhancements for when the foreground app is elevated.
Along with the updates, there are a plethora of bug fixes that address edge-case scenarios too.
If you haven’t tried Start11 yet, you can download a free trial and if you are looking for the ultimate Stardock bundle, make sure to check out Object Desktop too.

Thank you for fixing the height of the Taskbar. The last update had moved the Taskbar up (I use top aligned) past the monitor edge.

Feature requests:
1) In the Windows 11 Start Menu have the ability for App Folders (in the pinned area)
2) In the Windows 11 Start Menu have the ability to expand the size of the menu
3) In the taskbar context menu, allow users to choose which of the options they want.
4) In the Windows 11 Start Menu add the ability to have an always-present all programs list like we have in the windows 10 menu
5) Tabbed interface for grouping applications, files, or whatever the user wants. For instance, I might want a group of apps that I use for this project A and a different set I use for another project, or a work vs play tab setup, possibilities should not be limited.

Is there any possibility that this update has altered the size of my Windows 11 start menu icons, they have become absolutely huge for some reason. I don't know if it is related or not - this evening I had to reinstall windows from a macrium reflect copy and immediately after doing so start11 kicked up and said it wanted to do an update so I let it.
Unfortunately I did not check on the menu before the update was done.
I do have a pic showing the difference but from memory you can't upload them here.

Hi, thanks for the response, I have after a lot of digging found an option under Start11 which I had not seen to before to adjust the size of the start menu icons to small, medium, large etc and have altered it back so the icons are not so behemoth like, for some reason the new update installed with large icons...
Problem is now not a problem.

Very nice new feature, I hope that my feedback on the option to disable the start menu on secondary screens will one day be made available.
