DX 2005 - Best / Worst / Ideas?

What do you think?

Monday, January 2, 2006 by RomanDA | Discussion: DesktopX

Hey all!!

Happy 2006. I was looking at some of my work in DX this past year, and I was curious as to what YOU think are the BEST & WORST Widgets or Gadgets of 2005?

Rules:

  • The Gadget/Widget has to have been posted or created in 2005 - not just updated!!
  • It has to have a trial/demo (if its on DG) so everyone can check it out
  • You must post a LINK to the widget or gadget so we can easily get to it!!
  • You need to post WHY you think its worthy of this list.
  • Also post why you think it sucks (if its a looser!)

Also,

What is on your DX wish list for 2006?
Or, What is the BIG DX widget/gadget you have planed for 2006??

A lot of great widgets/gadgets have come out of requests from you, so this is a great time to let us know what you want!

I need to look thru the system and see what I would put on my list..

Here are a few of mine:

SD Web Browser (1.03 final) - I think this is a GREAT use for DX!

SD System Navigator (3.04 demo) - an AMAZING DX widget, it works so great, the animation is smooth, the look is great, its just a wonderful DX app, makes me want to STOP making DX items!

OMNI analogue - man, to be Tiggz and be able to make the graphics he is able to do, its just so visually appealing, it looks great and does a ton of things too! I love it!!

I think what we all really need is a new dx pro browser with the program working with or thru the browser to enhance the way one does or could do his new objects with better helps and information to the artist. More area and better references with of course a really good way to save screens and esp. scripts from the screen also. Something along the line of a screen shot tool and that of a code section with a area for showing the object for testing it as it would be in operation.
Just an idea and in hopes that someday it could come to be ... never know these days

It's the future of DX and it deserves a good look ~!

Tiggz's entire OMNI series has set a new standard in widgets. His news widget is the most complete I have ever seen, the To-do list is a multifunction wonder, the mail checker actually gets used multiple times a day by me, and the slide show widget has no equal in that sort of widget for any widget program that I have ever seen (and I have tried most all of them). Graphically stunning and useful to boot. Not often we get both in such a tight package.

No, I very clearly remembered and stated the OMNI slide show widget.

And I didn't place any links because, well, if someone is too frickin' lazy to type OMNI in the search box of the sidget section, they don't deserve to use them.
