Nothing happens when clicking the HUD Desktop.exe. Not running anything to block it like AV. Only other programs running are Stardock Fences, Windowblinds, IconPackager & CursorFX.

EDIT: Nevermind. I just saw the Windows 7 only.

Not working for me either, and the screenshot says; "For Windows 10", I turned off UAC, ran as administrator too, nothing....do I need something else to run it? Really disappointed.

1.  How to set up Mail Client?

2.  How to set up Music for my player?

Thanks.

Hi, Friends!

I'm sorry to hear that... Especially after I spent a year and a half creating this...

This is a very complex program that uses many system libraries (dll). Here is a list: USER32.DLL, SHCORE.DLL, GDI32.DLL, UXTHEME.DLL, SHELL32.DLL, KERNEL32.DLL, IPHLPAPI.DLL, NETAPI32.DLL, DNSAPI.DLL, NTDLL.DLL, ADVAPI32.DLL, PDH.DLL, MSVCRT.DLL, WINMM.DLL, WMP.DLL...

I don't know why it does not work on your computers. May be some of these dll(s) are missed... Or may be your PC has the integrated video adapter only... Or may by Windows Media Player is uninstalled... So there are dozens of reasons for this...

How I can help in this case? Especially if you consider that the program runs on my computers (Win 7 x64 and Wind 10 x64) without any errors...

Just remove it... And wait for a new versions. This is my last (that is, really the last) project. But I am constantly working to improve it. Maybe one day I'll find why this is happening and it will work for you.

Very easy!

E-mail: open mail display (mail icon at the bottom); open mail settings (the gear icon on the mail display); enter Account data to the appropriate fields and press 'Save'. Then press 'Refresh' button co check mailbox. That's all. (Supports up to 10 different accounts)

Music Player: open Media Library (the arrow icon at the bottom-right of Player Body). Now you can add single files, folders with any media content (which will be converted to m3u playlist or any URL to audio/video. Then you will be able to play you media in the Player.

The email checker does work but I cannot bring up the email client.

HUD Desktop retrieves info about your default email client from the Registry. It should be here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\NAME OF EMAIL CLIENT\shell\open\command

Therefore, a shortcut cannot be created if data is missing here. Please look into the registry. What is your default email client?

The data is there.  The default is eM Client.  But nothing happens when I press the E-Mail Client button.

Can you post here the value of subkey from your registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\eM\shell\open\command

Mine looks like this:

Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Mozilla Thunderbird\shell\open\command

Value: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -mail

where the string C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe is the path which uses for shortcut.

So I think yours should be like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\eM Client\MailClient.exe

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\eM Client\shell\open\command

C:\Program Files (x86)\eM Client\MailClient.exe

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\eM Client\shell\open\command C:\Program Files (x86)\eM Client\MailClient.exe

The value is correct! I can't figure out why the shortcut isn't working the way it should. Perhaps I need to add some code to manually enter the path to the mail client? Anyway I need some time to think about this situation...

An update will be sent as soon as I resolve this issue.

I am able to run this but it really isn't multi monitor if it just runs on one screen. If you uploaded the wallpaper then it could be multi monitor. Any chance you could upload the wallpaper? It is pretty awesome other than that.

Update: it stopped working. Just closed and now it won't run at all.

In fact, the "wallpaper" is just the body of the main window. The image is recreated each time when the program starts, the desktop layout changes, or the parent monitor changes. Thus, its borders are the same as the work area of ??the parent monitor... But the program window cannot be displayed on multiple monitors at the same time. I'm sorry...

it stopped working. Just closed and now it won't run at all.

What was your last action before it stopped working? This will help me to understand what happened.

To fix this problem, close the program (if it is still running in the Task Manager). Then got to

"C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Local\SD Gadgets\HUD Desktop\settings"

and copy the file huddata.ini to any safe place. Then delete this folder and run program again. If all OK close the program. Then open the new created file

"C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Local\SD Gadgets\HUD Desktop\settings\huddata.ini"

Now open the old file and copy all sections with your settings to the new file. But DON'T touch the [MAIN] section!

Close the modified file and run the program. It should work again.

I didn't understand anything at all... What specifically doesn't work? Program won't start? Or it crashes after a while? I need more information to understand your problem...

By the way, I have been using this program for over a year on two computers with Win 7 x64 and Win 10 x64... It works for me...

About the sidebar version. This is not a commercial product. This is my desktop background, which I decided to upload here. Nothing more. So this project does not imply any other design options...

You may turn on the Windows Sidebar and use Sidebar Gadgets with similar functionality. Just open Google.
