Vad:
You don't know me but I have been a huge fan of your work for a long time. This news of your recent decision to discontinue uploading your wonderful work on this site is a huge disappointment to the many people who have downloaded and used it including me. I think you are an extrememly talented artist and could easily sell your work. I wish I could learn to do what you do. Perhaps you could teach me a thing or two.
Why not create your own website and sell your work past present and future. I predict that your creative juices and inherent talents for this technical artform are going to be too strong for you to just up and quit doing something you are so dam good at and must love to do as well. Your work makes many people happy dude! I for one love all of your work and I have downloaded probably everything you have ever uploaded to this site.
I myself, and I am certain many other fans, friends and admirers would be more than willing to support your work by purchasing it for a fair price. Why not give it a try? You have nothing to loose and perhaps will be pleasantly surprised to see how many fans you really have and the money you might bring in. Afterall, you are certainly on of the very the top skinners and Stardock is losing one of the very best artists they have ever had and benefitted from. They should put you on staff to create and work out a deal on the proceeds of whatever you sell.
I sincerely hope you will give it some serious thought and decide on continuing your outstanding work and earn the money you so richly deserve in the process!!
I know I will miss your work. In any event, take care my friend and thank you so much for everything I have so enjoyed on my laptop. You are awesome Vad. If you have done anything lately that you have not posted I would be more than willing to look at it and pay something for it.
Sincerely,
John

Hi John,
Thank you very much, but I'm not ready to continue this stupid game... The main reason is - I don't want see how DesktopX will be killed by its own creators!
Three years ago it was the best worldwide developer tool for widgets and gadgets. Two years ago I warned that DesktopX has a big chanse to repeat the inglorious way of ObjectBar if Stardock will not pay more attention for its modernization and correction tens of bugs. Nobody wanted to hear me...
Then the best of DX artists and programmers left this place because they lost any hope for further development of their favorite program. And seems I was one of the last who did this...
What do we see right now? We see that DesktopX 4.0 was died long before its birth date (or may be it was an abortion for unnecessary child?) Anyway the goal was achieved. The popularity of DesktopX is falling down and may be equal to zero in a nearest future. No one believes the assurances that the updated version of DX is about to appear in Impulse. There were too many lies around...
Look at the content of Object Desktop 2010: https://www.stardock.com/products/odnt/information.asp. Do you see DesktopX 4.0 somewhere in the list? No! But you will find there absolutely idiotic program like DeskScapes which contaminates computer's memory and reduces its performance...
So this place is died for me together with DesktopX. And I'm very sorry...
Best Regards,
Vad.

Again, sad to see you go. I know you left instructions for WeatherLab 7 use on Win 7. For whatever reason, it won't work on mine. I suspect a file is placed somewhere the program doesn't suspect.
If for whatever reason you feel like providing instructions on getting it to work on Win 7 (I use 64 bit) please let me know. And yes, I will still pay for the privalege of using it.
Thanks and your loss is our loss.

I too would love that WB. I have Win 7 64 bit. If you would send it to me via PM or something that would be much appreciated. In any event, your works will be and are missed.

Vad_M: You have made it clear your feelings on the software and such. I would suggest not to keep burning bridges.

Hey master...
All the best for your future...u were my fav skinner here and u know this perhaps...
Technology changes every few years, many softwares were developed and then sustituted by other ones. And we as an individual can think that DesktopX will be killed by its creators, however they dont want to, they will have to. They had worked a lot in developing it but market is changing. Now people love their facebook, twitter profile more than they love their desktop.
Larger a company, greater are the number of employees there, there are more responsibilities and they hav to take a decision that help them survive in the race. Not for good or bad, fair or unfair, money is important for everyone , be it an individual or a firm.
As for Desktopx, it is stunning piece of software...but.........
