This would be a great LCARS theme if you took out the gradients. Anyone who has ever seen Star Trek knows their systems do NOT use gradients. Dude, seriously, you need to take out the gradients or change the name.

Please ignore some of the negative comments that you have been getting. I like your version of the LCARS stuff. I too have seen various colors on this theme and think you did a very good job. I once tried to do a windowblinds skin of Mickey Mouse, but since I got such negative comments, I had it removed and probably will not submit another skin to this site. So, excellent work!

Actually, Ian the Star Trek TNG, DS9 and even Voyager graphics team used gradients many times during the time it was aired. If you were any kind of a Star Trek fan you would know this.

da_dre, if you have nothing nice to say either keep your mouth closed and your opinions to yourself, or take a hike.

Rmart, nice work mate. It would be nice to have this for higher resolutions, bug nice work nonetheless.

Thanks DC. I did a search for Ian on Google and found that it was a nym for Bryan King, another poster lamenting the gradients. I also heard that Mr. King died in surgery. Perhaps (Ian) will get your message, perhaps not. BTW, did you rate it?

Thanks for all the LCARS objects. They are great. I loaded the DX-Starter first as directed. But when I click on the various buttons on the DX-Starter nothing happens even though I have the other modules loaded. Please help.

Whoops, I see what you mean now. Thanks for the heads up. I'll correct that. Of course Latin, that'll mean another update.

There, taken care of. This version is using the Stardock icons for the weather object.

Hi there Rmart,

I have to say this is the best LCARS system I've seen so far. One thing though, this Program Access Container's giving me alot of trouble. A scripting error somewhere makes that I can't save the theme with this object added and I get a 'this program is not responding' error on DesktopX every now and then. I'm running the main LCARS+V3 theme, so I'm not sure if adding the DX-starter again, since it's already in the main theme, will help.

Do this. Unload the LCARS+ theme completely by loading the blank theme. Then navigate to your "yourname"theme folder in the DesktopX directory and delete the contents. Make sure you do not choose the themes folder but rather the folder with your name on it. Then reload DesktopX and reload LCARS+. Then add-in the module. you should be able to save then. Reloading the DXstarter module won't do anything except cause more problems. Let me know what the script error is also. This module has a ton of scripts in it.

I've already tried to save the theme with the PAM as a totally new theme, that didn't worl either. The 'not responding' error occurs during saving by the way. As for the script, Norton Antivirus identified it as possibly malicious. However, trusting that it wasn't malicious, I told Norton to allow the script, so it would work, and I didn't look at the script in question. Side note: I am running every other available add-on fir this theme and they're running well. Could it be that one of the PAM scripts is colliding with one or more scripts from the other add-ons?

No, I had occasional problems as you describe as well during development. Did you follow the directions I relayed below? I had the best results doing it that way. Often when changing themes DX doesn't delete all the scripts in the directory. After loading LCARS+, unload it and load the blank theme. Then goto the directory and see how many scripts are left to see what I mean. I also think that with all the modules loaded sometimes it overwhelms DX. I found that when I started with a completely clean directory and then loaded the modules it would work OK. Occasionally DX would crash and then I'd have to reload it. It would work again after that. If you count the scripts in the PAM module alone it's very high. You have all the scripts for the weather object, the calendar object and then all the scripts that make the PAM module work. Probably close to 100. Maybe more. The PAM module is the most script intensive of the modules. I'll look at it some more.

Hi,

I tried, but apart from loading the add-on quicker nothing changes, the theme still won't save. I've been wrong about one thing though. The 'not responding' error was an executable error. This is the error's signature accprding to windows:

AppName: desktopx.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0
ModName: odzip.dll
ModVer: 1.0.10.0
Offset: 0002ef2c

The error looks like a DesktopX error, not a theme error. Regarding the saving theme thing and the error thing. Did you update Windows Scripting as mentioned in several posts on the ng? Goto http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c717d943-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa&DisplayLang=en and install the latest Microsoft scripting host. This is assuming you are running Win2K or XP. Maybe that will help. I don't know why you're having trouble saving it. I'm having no troubles here.
