It would be cool if you could synchronize it with the real sunrise like from the weather object. Then you gotta make real clouds that rain when it's actually raining, etc.

It's very easy to do moon phases now. You just need the states of the moon and then calculate what moon phase it is (simple formula).

suggestion: how about creating another for the moon as well, and perhaps the phases of the moon according to time of year?
