ok first of all Frogboy i am a big fan of your work, i have many or your wunderfull objects. i am realy happy you like what i have done here as it has taken me along time to get it right. ok secondly im not sure if the "irc.stardock.com:45" you are using actually exists or not and will have to try to connect myself and see. and for the saveing of settings have you tried clicking on the "Save/Restore" label? as i did fully implament all the storage as it was the main priority for like 3 days 
. as for the blank boxes in the task list i havent a clue what would cause that but i will start working on trying to mimik the situation if i can. for this being just an alpha release i admit it has some problems and i NEED you so much to help and i appresheate the feedback Frogboy. i tip my hat to you sir and i will get back with more information as soon as i figure it out Thank You

ok i was able to connect to irc.stardock.com but on port 6667 not 45 mabe try that Frogboy. i joined the #stardock channel and chatted with some guys. when i tried to connect on port 45 i got a winsock error and found a new bug! so i fixed it. im not gunna update this for a few days so people can download it and dont have to wait for authorization again..
if anybody wants the updated version try and catch me on irc.esper.net:6667 #beefcake
as for the blank boxes i have no idea why it would do that as i dont even see any desktopx/controls when hitting alt+tab keys. if you could give a little more info as to what you seen/did might help me to better understand the situation if you could. thank you

Oh PLEASE don't remove it ! It's a *VERY* great object, and I'm sure I'm not your only fan here

i have fixed the $char limit of 50 $char's it now works fine. i fixed the byte counter, split it up recieved/sent like it should be added a buffer toggle button so it isnt visible all the time. in other words it works great now! not much that i can find now that has any problems. the only thing i have got left to do is the nicklist on the right side panel and i figure it is the most complex part.
I am not going to remove my work from this site. i put allot of work into this object it is the best one that i have on here, i spend allot of time and put allot of effort into this object it dosnt just make itself and i dont mean to be a jerk

But I can't quite get it to ork. I am able to connect to a channel (I think). It says something like irc.stardock.com:45 cannot register.
Also, it doesn't save your settings so everytime you restart it you have to reenter in all your data. You could use the persistent store feature to save the user's settings.
Also, I ended up with an increasing number of blank boxes or something in my task list (Alt-Tab list I should say).
This is a fantastic concept though.
