Thx Phoon and carolelee - ideas> hmmm, well, I d all my Killer objects and redownloaded them from WC and found that the mode toggling script didn't appear to be working. I scrutinised the script but could find nothing wrong, then tried restarting dx (as I've found that sometimes irons out wrinkles) and then the script was working. I repeated the process, same thing, when I loaded the object, the script wouldnt work, but then when I restarted dx it did. Then I ugraded my version of dx to the very latest and tried again. This time the script worked from the very first load.
However, there now seems to be an issue when deleting objects, it doesn't always all related objects even when you ask it too, or (even worse) it s unrelated objects. I can only presume this is an issue with the latest builds of dx because I've checked and double checked all my object dependancies, groupings etc.
So, my advice is, install the latest version of dx but be prepared for some possible shenanigans when you objects - or try merely restarting dx and see if that kickstarts the scripts. Let me know how you get on.

DerNickpicker - glad to hear it's working great for you There's a nearly complete suite already and the rest is on the way...

hmmm, very weird, every time I tried to write "d e l e t e" in my last post (without the spaces) the word itself was d e l e t e d. I wonder if this is somehow related to the missing winkies ppl have been repoting lately....

docx - cheers!

** *\o_ *|o|*

I had those troubles, and a dx update fixed one thing (in the process confusing the other). I just love these mode-shifting stuffs. Soon I will make a screenie.

I think this is in the dictionary as one of the definitions of "quality." Look it up you'll see )

How are the 'blended' and 'inset' effects accomplished?

With the help of some email correpsondance, pottering about and other general feedback, another possible solution to anyone whose objects scripts aren't functioning as they should is to start a new theme and reload your objects into that. From experience this often clears away any otherwise unexplainable gremlins.
GM - sorry that this object doesn't throb -_o
mrbiotech, hehe, thanks m8
digital_trucker - well...the inset mode is relatively simple, you make the graphic on a transparent background with an outside bevel then save that as a png. The blended mode was considerably harder for me to figure out. It involved making a layer with a hole cutout of it the shape of the blend I was aiming for, applying an outer bevel (with some specific contour settins and such to achieve the dsired shape). I then the "hole" shape and copied merged. Pasted to a new layer, a bit of gaussian blur and other tweaking...took me quite a few attempts and experiments to get the effect I was after.

The whole Killer suite is AWESOME!!!! Made all 3 DX objects into widgets. They'll be on my desk for a long time GREAT work. All I need know is a matching meter (hint hint)

Thanks alot Psikotik - yeah, matching meters are on the todolist for sure I also recommend making the media object into a widget, with a systray icon. That way you can click on the icon and bring the player to the top of other windows for easy access. Before doing so however, I suggest you right-click the play button, properties and set it's "start with" mode to single click. Due to a gremlin I had to redo the play button shortly before I uploaded the object and neglected to change this.
I am considering making a nice custom icon and uploading a widgetified version of this object...more likely if anyone else is interested...

awesome desktop x stuff. but for some reason my killer media has the white arrows around it pointing to the different things, is it supposed to be like this?

Hi John, thanks for the compliments. Not sure whether the dxmedia plug-in supports WMP, but I suspect not. I think there is a way of using activeX controls to make a WMP controller but that would require a completely different object setup. I use WMP for videos, but for mp3s I changed my default player to objectmedia to use this dx object - it will also control winamp, and maybe coolplayer.
mwest316, thanks. Have you pressed the help glyph inside the object display? (Question mark symbol) That should toggle the visibility of those arrows.
