Nice work
One suggestion: You could set the HybridText object to have Activation:None through the Object properties dialog.
This way, you would only receive mouseover, mouseaway messages when entering and leaving the HybridBack object. (since you are setting the HybridText states from within the HybridBack script, there is no need to let DesktopX interact with this otherwise.
(This would also prevent the user from being able to move the HybridText object without having to group the two objects together - hold ctrl to move otherwise)
Just a suggestion to have the two more seamlessly act like one object
