What can I say Tiggz. This along with your Omni mail widget (and a couple others) are the reasons I am finally starting to use Desktop X and widgets.

Love the widget useful even when not running desktopx. I've only encountered one problem. Managed to get around it buy setting to run on windows startup but if i try to incorporate this into my own theme I lose the system tray icon and the ability to minimize (the x on the thing that displays the images available). Basically if you import it it loses those things but double clicking and running independently it works just perfectly. Thought you may wanna know but hey just wanted to comment on a kick ass widget hehe.

Hey tiggz

great job your a genius these wigets are awesome.. But i had the same problem my wall wouldnt change but THANKZZ TO DrDrrae_ i figuere how to work it. 1. you have to set you icons appearable, 2.go to the display options and press apply, 3. then open the widget 3. click on another image press it. 4. then i doesnt change still, +++ so you have to press f5 or refresh then it works perfect.

So, i hope you can fix that problem for other users cuz i dont really like to see my icons on the screen. But great job.. thankz

I've been using this for awhile, and I love it.
Simple, easy to use, and it does what it says it's supposed to do.

Sweet.

Only thing I'd do different is add a feature where I can add or indicate a directory where my images are stored. The drag 'n drop feature is cool, but I've a directory with wallpapers (not the %systemroot%/Web/Wallpapers one, either), and to just be able to point this there and have it autoload the images would be nice.

Works like a charm brother!!! Nice little update. I've been using version 1 since you released it and it's soooooo nice!
I second onestar's comment...to be able to set a directory and just have it "autoload" images would be fab! I would still like to see this great little thing have the ability to close up, that would just make my flippin day!!

Great work as usuall. I've been a big fan of all of your goodies for quite some time now!
Thanks sooooo much for sharing your talents with us!

About the directory/autoload thingy:
Well, when I was making this there were 2 ways to go - folders or playlists.
I went with playlists.
I was reading somewhere about some guy who had 7200 wallpapers in a single folder - a folder driven wallpaper widget is next to useless for him I would say.
I also have folders with many walls in - the beauty of the playlists model is I can create a playlist of (for example) blue wallpapers, a playlist of green walls, a playlist of ... etc etc, all from the same folder, or a combination of folders. I think it's especially useful in conjunction with the autochanging facility where I like to have alot more control over which walls are cycled than just "all the images in a single directory".
I hear what you are saying, and agree that using folder contents is definitely one way to go. This widget unfortunately goes the other way. I spent some time thinking of a way to integrate the 2 approaches into a single widget and just felt that it would lose the simplicity of use. If you are hell bent on using entire contents of single folders then you can actually load them into the widget in a matter of seconds - locate on disk/clear list/select all (in explorer)/drag to widget etc. I know it's not automatic, but it's a not too long winded solution.
I guess in an update I could add a browse for folder facility, and all the contents of that folder would be added to the current playlist - this could lead to mighty long playlists tho in some case

As a side note, you can actually use my OMNI slideshow widget to set wallpapers as well, and that does use the folder model of loading content. Although you can't get the walls to autochange, only the actual slides.

Anyway, I hope that explains my decision to make it as I have (and why it is likely to stay that way)

Great explanation Tiqqz!! I didn't even think about the drag-n-drop option of loading an entire folder...duh...what a moron I am!! Good option to go w/ the playlist idea!!

You're my hero!! If I ever decide to grow up (although after 43 years I doubt it will happen) I wanna be just like you!! LOL!

Great Widget!! I noticed someone else who had a problem with not being able to minimize it to the tray. In fact, for me, I can't even close the widget, I have to delete it manually from the object list. Just curious if you have any suggestions on how I can get it to work from the tray as well as on my desktop.
I love the features, but I don't want to see it on my desktop all the time.

Thanks!!
Bill

First thing to do would be to clear out your widget cache which you can do via the widget manager. This is usually a good first step if you are encountering unforseen problems with any widget.

Then, start the widget, right click it and select properties - in the accesibility section ensure that "systray" is selected. Then you should be able to minimize either by clicking on the tray icon or by clicking on the down arrow at the bottom of the part of the widget with the 5 thumbnails on it.

If it still fails to minimize then, basically, I am stumped

Great Widget..!!

But when I restart my windows xp, it doesn't load my saved list... it runs but without any list or wallpaper saved, leaving my desktop blank..!

Even after cleaning cache.

Anyone has any clue...?!?!?

Great widget Tiggz. It is a widget that I always have running. There is only one thing that would make it perfect for me, and that is if at Windows XP StartUp, the widget would start minimized and not on my desktop. Currently, I always have to click on the down arrow on the widget to minimize it. Not a major detail, however, if it had the option to start minimized, it would be perfect in my eyes. Or, is there a way to accomplish this, if so, how??? Thanks.

Hey Tiggz,

Great Widget, works well, very user freindly application, but I have one concern. When it stretches a smaller/larger wp it distorts the wp slightly, enough to the piont that it's noticable. I have resolution 1152*864 and there are not many wp out there for my resolution, so I use the closest larger or smaller resolution. The regular wp display stretches it without changing the image itself. Anyway, if your making another update, take this into consideration, thanks.

Good Works
