Wow, this is absolutely fantastic. I've always felt notifiers weren't much use, I'd rather just keep Thunderbird running. But with all these features, especialy mulitple accounts of different types, I will be using this for a while.

Excellent stuff, as usual!

I don't usually use the email notifiers, as my email app is always running anyway, but this is definitely worth a spot on the desktop

I spoke too soon. I put Gmail in and it works until I close the widget down. Then when I start it up, the mail will not work until I delete the Gmail account and close the widget down and start it back up. Then my other mail account will work.
Not sure if this is clear.
Any Ideas?

Viper.. mouse over the title bar, click on the arrow that appears, click on + to make a new account, click on the configuration icon by the X to configure it, first line is alias  (nickname), second is the way your account knows you (your signin name for gmail is everything in front of @ and nothing after it), third has a drop down menu, choose gmail. click on change password and put in your password, click on apply. For gmail ignore the fourth line.

Thankyou GoodMorphing - i appreciate it looked rather straight forward but an instruction help file would of saved me some rather wasted time - what if i wish to use a yahoo.com address - would this be a POP and what would the server type be?
all suggestions welcomed - kind regards

I don't know anything about yahoo mail.  For me whenever I configure a new mail account I just copy the way I did it in outlook express.  Unless you are using special ports then it has been my experience that mail configuration is pretty generic.

If you enlarge the preview picture you might get some hint how to configure a bt account.  You might look at the information that the other accounts provide on their websites about how to set up mail accounts.

One of my mail accounts doesn't mark read mail as read for a notifier and thats nothing the notifier can address because it is the way the coding on the server is set up.  What I did was to make a second folder and move all my saved mail into it so that only fresh incoming mail is in that folder.  That works better for me anyway... it clears the mail I need to attend to away without the sense  of urgency from looking at that large number all the time.  I sometimes use the drafts folder for that purpose.  I had another notifier that reads gmail like that.  Unless I moved the mail to the second folder it marked all gmail as unread and you know how big those accounts are.

Hi all, thanks for the nice comments.

To people for whom it wasn't working properly:
I think I identified a problem with saving the encrypted passwords - hopefully I have now fixed that. Delete your old version, clear the widget cache and download again - you should know it's a new version because the download zip will be called OMNImail2_update1.zip
You will need to re-enter your passwords and hit the apply button.

For those who are interested the problem was this:
the encryption algorithm basically converts all the characters to other characters - unfortunately sometimes it converts them into linefeeds, carriage returns, backspaces or tabs which is all very well until you try and save that encrypted password and subsequently try and read it back. The solution is to escape the string prior to saving and unescape after reloading the saved string.
