I had this problem a while ago. Try closing the prog and then try deleting the info in: C:\Documents and Settings\"YOURNAME"\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\WeatherLab. I beleive this will allow the settings to be reset when you restart the application.

Just in case I'm wrong, back that directory up somewhere. I hope this solves your problem.

I believe that the problem I described above (12-14-06) is due to the widget not connecting during an update. Maybe a reload or refresh button would help?

To Dan Dunn:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I have a serious problem with internet connection last time . Sometimes I can't not only to open any web pages but receive e-mails too! So excuse me please for delay with my answer.

Ok. I have tried to understand your problem but this is very strange that you wrote above. Obviously I can't fix anything if I can't see this! The only one reason may cause such situations - there is some program in your system (unknown for me) which disturbs for a normal work of gadget during its startup. As a result some commands in the main script (like cloning of weather icons) are not executed. Hmm... I'm not sure that I can help you. Sorry... However I'll try to do this. So wait please.

May be the next version will not have this bug? I have some ideas how to optimize some functions of this gadget. But I have no free time to make these yet. Hope it will be much soon...

Thanks for replying. The problem I described rarely happens at widget startup. It mostly happens well after the widget starts.

I had a problem with zone alarm firewall once, where it was blocking all internet access. I saw the widget attempt to update and when it could not, lost all the icons as described above.

I hope this helps...

Vad_M and Dan Dunn,

Thanks DD, that did the trick. I had been searching for just such a directory or file but had missed the weatherlab subdir in the local settings/Application Data/stardock folder.

And, Vad, you do have a great widget. I may have to donate some money to you. But if you could fix that barometer to actually point at something useful, even if it's a simple as all the way to the right for rising, all the way to the left for falling or as complicated as having it point from somewhere between 28 to 31 or similar in mm or milibars it would be a super great addition to an already very nice utility.

Thanks, both of you.

To gmknobl:

Money? This sounds attractive. I love money! (joke) ha-ha-ha...

May tell you that I know how to create the WeatherLab INTERNATIONAL which will give a possibility for its users to use any languages except English. And any units. But I have no time to realise this project now. Very sorry about.

However you will see really useful weather tool when I'll finish these changes. So wait please.

Best Regards.

Vad, this is incredible.

Any chance you could add a live weather radar also?

I have one already, but it would be so much better if yours had it.

Vad,
You are light-years beyond any mere technician/artist/programmer I have ever seen. I am in awe and so very honored that you continue to frequent WinCustomize and share with us. You are truly dedicated and selfless in continuing to try and help people even as you have your own life to live and support your family. What an example for the rest of us. Bless you and yours.

I must create a black cat in a dark room?

LOL!!!

Vad, It appears to me that you have already done just this! You're a wizard. Like everyone else, I'm waiting for SD Desktop, as shown on your "My Desktop" picture at your WC site. I/we understand you must be busy, so not to hurry, ever. When/if it does appear for us to download, I'm sure it will be astounding, as every one of your works are.
My barometric-pressure indicator also does not work, but there is a needle/arrow that moves around the guage. It just always seems to point at approximately 100-150 degrees... This is not an annoyance, as the pressure-trend is shown in text. I use version SD_WeatherLab_3.03.exe Thank you for sharing these stunning creations with us...for no cost!?! I, for one, would pay $ for them so you could make a worthwhile living at this. You should charge a price for these. Your WC name in your posts should be changed to: Master Vad_M

I sometimes read my children a bedtime story of "Baba Yaga". As you are such a wizard, can you make one of these?

For Seldomseen:

Big thanks.

I'm very sorry but there is one problem which really disturbs me to work on this. The "president" of my country and sone bad people beside him began the Unconstitutional upheaval which may be finished with Civil War and full destruction of Ukraine...

I have lost many thousands of dollars when these people have done their "orange democratic revolution" two years ago. But now the situation is much, much worse - I may lose all... So I must to save my business and I can't tell you when I'll continue my work with DesktopX. Sorry again...

Best Regards.

Hello, thanks for the great job. I use this to plan my outdoor work and wanted to find out about the reliability. What is the source for the weather information?

How can I edit the list of locations? I would like to add Providence, R.I. and a couple others. Any help would be appreciated. basketweaver@gmail.com is my email address. Thanks

This is very easy:

Right click on the button with locations, type "Providence, R.I" in the inputbox and press OK.

I'm sorry but I can't understand why this happened. And I can't test it because I have no more XP on my PC... However you may try to download and use the next generation of WeatherLab here:WWW Link. This gadget was created for Vista but may work on XP too.
