I have worked with this project so long that decided to name it "Eternity". May tell you that all of my previous creations are a baby toys in comparison with this and I'm really happy that have finally finished all...
For a long time I have used DesktopX with a big respects. But now I definitively love this Software. Great Thanks for Stardock! I have spend my time so beautifully...
So this is not a simple player as you can see around. Three Searches Systems, the Internal Database, Fader, Stereo Balance, Programmable Radio Tuner*, ID3 v2 Tags Editor, Download Manager and a lot of other useful functions you will find into this gadget.
*An example of Radio Playlist is included into zip file. You may copy it here:
"C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\SD Media\Data" and look how it works.
1. Supported Playlists:
"M3U" (Windows Media Player, WinAmp, iTunes) as well as "M3U8";
"PLS" (Stardock Object Media, Real Player, WinAmp, iTunes);
"WPL" (Various Windows Media Players).
You can convert the Playlists to each other by usage the "Save" or "Save As" options in the Media Library.
2. Media Library with two graphic displays and moving markers can load and play any Media Files and (or) edit your Media Collection:
LEFT - to open Media Files or Folders (single click to begin playback, right click top open service menu).
RIGHT - to show the detail information about Media Files from the left display (single click to select item for editing, double click to begin playback and right click top open
service menu). Also you can use these Displays to Drag and Drop Media Files or Folders from Windows Explorer. And edit the ID3 Tags of *.MP3 and *.WMA Files.
3. Media Searchers* will help you to find the Media Files by File Name, File Extension, Media Type, Song Title, Album, Artist, Genre, Year etc... everywhere in your Computer.
*NOTE: This is BETA VERSION! Please don't use these Searchers for searching a lot of Files. All of found files will be opened in the Media Player
and the gadget may not work correctly if their amount will be more than 1000. (I'm planing to create a special Media Explorer in a future. But
now this is just a little Media Player. So don't require the things which are impossible for it.)
4. The full automatic Internal Database can add and keep safe all Media Files that you will open in the Player and to check for any changes of Media Collection.
5. Player will keep your desktop free in a windowshade mode (a little display is intended for Drag and Drop Files or Folders). Apropos the Media Player Display too.
6. Download Manager will help you to fill up your Media Library. There are a lot of free Media Files in the Internet which you can find and download directly to your Player.
What else can I tell about?
1. Please copy the necessary fonts from zip file to the system Fonts Folder (I'm not sure that the gadget will be look good without these fonts).
2. Read a little help file (press the 'Options' button on the Media Library to open it) and you will know more about this gadget.
3. Enjoy. (As you see this is very easy plan.)
The other SD Widgets and Gadgets you may find and download here:
LinkP.S. This project couldn't be saved as a widget. However I'm always ready to help if you will have any questions about scripting. Let me know (
Link and we can talk about.

Big thanks! You wrote: "... I can only guess they are hidden very well" Ha-ha-ha!
I don't hide nothing. You may find all information here:
1. Work Folder:
"C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\SD Media"
2. Data Folder:
"C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\SD Media\Data"
Files:
database.sml - the Internal data base
radio.spl - your Radio Playlist
toprated.spl - your list of "Top Rated" items
url.spl - your list of "URL" items
All of these files you may open in the notepad to edit.
Your Playlists are in the "Playlists".
The other data is in the "temp" folder but please, don't change anything you will find here.
Best Regards.
