seems like you have had more than one problem - might be in your video coedec or dreamscene itself , maybe try reloading ,,,,,,,,,,, this whole dream thing so far is not without bugs for some people - it all seems to work Fine for me though on my computer 
PS you wanna run 2 gigs of ram too !!

These Flames burn slower than the version next to me - I think that makes it easier on the eyes and not as distracting

Well as i found out this does take quite alot of memory on a 1GB machine, so the reason why it is probly crashing on you is that you should go out and get another 1GB of memory then it won't crash on you. That is what i did and it runs just fine on me expect when Vista does crash but that is ok it can come back up very easily.

down in your taskbar ( lower right corner ) right click on the volume icon( mixer ) open up and you will see your volumes just uncheck the dream volume so its not muted - set your volume level , and the your good to go - Dream SOUND !!!
