Actually, DeskScapes 8 will play MPEG on Windows 8 as long as the user has a MPEG2 codec installed.
Not sure why this was brought up by Stardock since it's always been this way. You had to install a mpeg codec on almost every other version of Windows that DeskScapes runs on.

Thats good to know. I thought I was going to have to find a new hobby. Ive tried multiple programs and for the life of me, I cannot get a WMV to seamlessly loop.

I want to cautioin everyone that I am a real novice when it comes to anything mechanical but I went to download.com and downloaded d.i.v.x. API decoder and everything plays fine on Windows 8. Maybe it will work for you and it is free.
