Sorry i dont visit here much but this should help. Dont check hide taskbar, but instead uncheck "Keep taskbar ontop of other windows". should solve you problem!
Theres some extra steps you don't need with the newer object dock / rocket dock, now you can move the dock to the side so you don't have to worry about it sitting over the top of your taskbar start button & dont need the taskbar start docklets.
i use with rocket dock because i like it better. Also i like the stacks flyout menus better, also there are "stand alone stacks" (google it) that you can put on your desktop or in your taskbar or in a flyout.
