Nice docks but when applied  I'm not seeing any reflections shown in the ss.

Welcome Wizard1956 ! well the reflections are built on Object Dock Plus 2.0 beta (the icon will be half mirrored on a flat surface but only in the bottom position!) missing the beta you just need the especially made icons, (in this case  the whole icon will be "deflected" as in the preview furthermore you'll have  the reflections in all 4 positions !) ... here you can find some of them: https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/objectdock/16235/  + https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/objectdock/16250/ + https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/objectdock/16570/ - if you have some other icons in mind send me the original I will make the "reflections" just for you !

I am running the 2.0 beta on Win7/64, one dock, at bottom of screen. I get reflections when used with other new skins but not these.

Frankell, no it is not built into 2.0 beta, there is new coding for it that the skinner can use if reflection is wanted.

From one of your other skins

so  strange we had to wait for OD2beta for discovering that also OD1.9 is supporting the TrueStretch code

More correctly it kinda works, it does not really work on 1.9 as it does on 2.0.

With your docks it seems to work more due to the large size of your images, since it will be scaling image down it is ok, with any of my docks, since for a standard zoomer the image height is 60, for most it would have to scale the image up and thus just looks as bad as using proportional stretch would.

with 2 automatic layouts:
Cabinet (Proportional Stretch = 1)
Tray (Proportional Stretch = 0)

Not sure why you are saying this in the description, every dock is auto layouted by the settings the skinner has in the .ini file.

No offense but IMO it makes it sound like you are trying to make it look like you are doing something different that makes seem as if this auto layout only applies to these docks.

welcome again Wizard ! so strange ! on my last skins uploaded I asked for some feedback from the 2.0 beta owners and it was positive, but as I'm out of the beta I'm just asking again to the other users if I have to label this skin  "only for OD 1.9" !?

any way my personal advice is to switch to the 1.9 version with the deflective icons option as most people says that the 2.0 beta is still quite buggy !

Myself I find 2.0 less buggy than 1.9, I still have 1.9 installed to access the settings that are not in 2.0 yet(1.9 and 2.0 share the same settings file so changes made one running 1.9 will carry over when running 2.0)

As for using your coined  deflective icons, if you were to make and post all the most commonly used icons for us so as for myself, i would have to make about 1500 icons (I have 7 windows shortcuts, computer docs etc, on my dock that are skinned by IconPackager, I would have to edit to them manually apply for ever IP set I use)

Not to be a smart ass but the best answer is yes and no, this dock seem to be built to look best with your deflective icons, when used with standard icons as I have the icons are in front of the back step where your deflective icons sit, and thus looks a little funky.

Frankell!!! .... I'm using these docks right now, and I'm really enjoying them! You did a great job on these, I have to say 101 stars! (You know what that means in binary)

These look really nice and work very well with ObjestDock 2 Plus Beta. Great job on these. I also just had to reformat my computer....

..................... end quoting

Yeh now I can notice there was no mention about the reflections ! so I guess as you perfectly said Cavan1 no new coding no reflections !!

Regarding the TrueStretch code I'm quite happy for the discovering and with my images large size, do you think there could be some downside ?

For the last comment: again you are right about the auto layout depending on the .ini file but usually the skinner decide for only 1 option: proportional stretch 1 (on) or 0 (off) then is the user that must go to the OD properties and manually check or uncheck the "stretch background proportionally" option. In this case the Cabinet and the Tray skins are exactly the same the only difference is in the .ini file  so the user just changing the skin  will automatically change this option (and nothing else) ! hope this helps !

Ooops I was a bit late on my answers!

first of all thanks again Wizard1956 and Cavan1 for pointing out the reflections issue

always trying my best for OD I can only repeat I'm out of this first beta 2.0 maybe not  buggy but let me say quite embarassing for the paid pre-release Plus policy and the missing freeware version !

any way at the moment I'm a very happy OD 1.9 user + skinner !

Since nothing major as far as how the backgrounds are apply has changed in 2.0, yes they will work on it, however that does not mean that they apply with the look you had in mind when designing them ( again using this skin as example as to how it seems designed to be best with deflective icons.)

As for your large images, you are relying on the stretch functions to make it look like a dock rather than make the image look the way you want when applied and using the width and height settings  in the .ini to control how image is applied/painted.

As for the proportional stretch, I have very rarely used it ( once was to make a zoomer out of and old tile dock, no longer had the paintshoppro file and using proportional stretch made it look ok as a zoomer). With most backgrounds when image is made as I and most other do use of proportional stretch tends to distort the dock.

Yes the feature is in the config to toggle it on and off, myself have only found docks that needed it turned off to look good never turned on, and that is only like maybe 1 out 100 docks.

Embarassing why/for who? I paid to be able to beta test, you decided not to.

The free version is not missing, Stardock never releases a free/trial version until the full version is out of beta and released.

I really like your conversation Cavan1 !

starting from the last comment I'm glad you are sure about the freeware version as I already posted in the forum this request without an official answer https://forums.wincustomize.com/379278/page/1/#2581510

also, having the freeware version you know that the beta was only for the previous Plus owners !

As a skinner the most interesting argument is for me the stretch function yes my finished skin is never the mockup but creating the skin in the end I'm always using OD as a graphic application I mean I try and try for the final result opening several times the OD properties for verifying the image and the .ini file changes !

thanks again for your interest it's meaning a lot to me

The response you got about the freeware was from a WC mod not Stardock, they have had a free version of OD for years I don't see that changing when 2.0 is final.

After playing with this dock a bit IMO it looks better with True Stretch off.

Verifiying image yep, but for the .ini you only use outsideborder to move icons and it does also control painting of image, the value for this setting I can tell what it needs to be by just using the select tool in PSPX2 from edge of image to where icons should sit, once apllied may need to tweak it a pixel or 2 but it is easier to set than any of the other .ini settings.

You have skills at image creation but again if you were to make the image as you invision instead of seeing how the stretch functions apply the images you will have more control over the final outcome of the dock.

One last thing about this dock, IMO, it is not a cabinet and a tray, it is a cabinet with squared and angled ends. A tray is made to look like it is sitting flat with the icons sitting on top of it.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful docks frankell!

I have a tip for those who needs reflective icons (without working on it manually).

There's a sweet little app that does it in few clicks, it's called iReflector:

but I would like to know if there will be the "freeware" version with the final OD 2.0 release ... hopefully earlier

Most likely, but I haven't been made aware of specific plans.

.......................................................................................................

good point about the tray ! I intended the Tray "only for the bottom \top position", differently the Cabinet has also lateral images (sorry I forgot this difference in my previous comment) but as I can see it wasn't technically appropriated,  just remembering that my honorific is "apprentice" thanks again for your precious Master advices !
