Can't get it to work for a secure (SSL) account. I changed the port to 993, but it can't poll for new messages. Any ideas?

Don't mean to be harsh, but what is the difference between this and the other mail checkers for ObjectDock? This seems like a cut down version of AndreasV version.

Am I missing something?

davidliv: if this really does imap4, then yes, you're missing the possibility to connect to an MS exchange server. We'll see, I'm just gonna download.

nico33: when I try to connect to our ms exchange server, your docklet sends the following request:
1 LOGIN myusername mypass (the only byte after my password is a 0x0a)
The exchange server responds:
* BAD Protocol Error: "Command received without terminating sequence"

Could you sort this out? Or am I doing something wrong? I have just edited the common section and the IMAP account session, didn't touch the POP accounts, dbxfile paths and the regkey.

whow..as I remember, Andreas's mailcheck didn't worked for me. so I wrote this docklet just for my own. Then I thought it could be useful for other people.

I wanted to be able to check mails from two different mail accounts on different servers. Perhaps other docklets do this too, don't know..

ethsza: My mistake...Imap protocol says a command should end with 0x0d0a. I fixed it, hope it will solve your problem. Check it out...

Nico,
yep, I've added that to my comment, but it was stripped because of the "greather than" and "less than" signs. So the response was asking for a CR + LF, which is 0x0d0a indeed. I'll download from my office PC tomorrow. Thanks. This is the first docklet I've found to work with IMAP so far.

Changing the port isn't enough. The docklet needs a secure socket to connect to the server. I don't really know how to implement this and have not much time to improve this docklet. But now I included my source code. So if anyone has any idea, feel free to make modifications and send me your results.

Can't seem to get it to work.
The debug file ends with this:
1 OK LOGIN completed.
2 EXAMINE INBOX
* 8 EXISTS
* 3 RECENT
* FLAGS (\Seen \Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Draft $MDNSent)
* OK [PERMANENTFLAGS ()] Permanent flags
Failed !
Total mails:0
Obviously it can see that there are 3 mails but it keeps saying no new mail.
Any ideas?

It works great with my regular IMAP and POP3 accounts, but I can't get it to work with Yahoo!POPs. To get my Yahoo! mail with Yahoo!POPs I have to use "localhost" as the mail server in Outlook, but that doesn't seem to work with this docklet. The debug log entry for that particular account is always empty, but the others all show up correctly. I realize this is a rare and probably unique circumstance, but this docklet would only be more awesome if I could get that to work.

Edit: Nevermind, I fixed it. Turns out I had set the protocol as "POP3" instead of just "POP." My bad. This thing pwns.

Wow, I didn't think that it was going to happen, but what do you know this one works for IMAP very well. Mayeb it is just me, but the .ini thing just makes more sense to me and is easier to configure. This was the 4th one I tried tonight by the way, great job on getting it right.

it doesn't work for me. it just tells me checking mail account but never gets out of it.

I just have to modify the CheckMailDocklet configuration file, correct?
