Yip, only when 100% of the pixels belong to you will you ever be truly a "creator" of something. This is a big step in the right direction.

Well I just need to get past using the glass filter, I am moving on to using only the bevel feature which makes me use much more by myself. I think that I will stop with bevel as my most creative way but when I am creating icons for things taht are already made like my HL2 icon I need to keep the original logo. I might try to animate this like D8abyte did with his.

Ummm, I really dont see what you mean by "creating" your own pixels. Lots of people start their work from a blank "sheet", which is what I thought you meant. But you obviously dont because that computer screen background was taken from another picture. I really don't intend to be mean, but this is the worst icon I have ever seen (and I'm being honest), I mean the computer isn't even square! 
What the heck where you thinking??? The computer shaped blob's gradient is unrealistic and doesn't reflet a gradient of ANYTHING in real life! I always support people when they make icons, but this is rather depressing (

looks like youre using fireworks. so do i. check my icons out: https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?authorid=703293 to see what i've been able to do with the program. im too lazy to learn photoshop...

Yep, I know both Fireworks and Photoshop. Lookl in your comments I like your earlierw work but they windows media icon I have to say does not suit my taste

I want to say it was suppsoed to be slightly stylistic, and also that backgorund is a gradient created in fireworks. I have used it in many works before that I havent submitted.

indeed, the windows media player was one of my first icons. and the gradient you used is called satin i believe?

Yep it is satin. BTW i submitted a se cond version made with absolutely no filters. I hope you like it when they accept it. Still trying to figure out how to animate.

well, if anything in here was copy/pasted I didn't know. But worst icon ever, or best to grace your monitor...this IS a skinning site! The fact that he's MAKING something is important. I'm overly tired of ignorant people spamming catagories with scanned/ripped/or images taken directly from the web. EVERY SINGLE ONE of these "waste's of space" should be removed. If you didn't make it, it's not yours, don't post it, don't waste our time. People that actually create things have a starting point, what did your first works look like? You have to start somewhere, then work from there. If all you want to do is take a picture of a cell phone or musician off the web and put some "groovy" text and filters on it, post them at deviant art, thats what that place is for, not this place.

I made this myself, what do you mean worst icon ever, what are the thigns that make it the 'worst'. I know it isnt the best but it is not horrible in my opinion. I created this completel on my own.
