the game is not even released I dont see the point of doing a hl2 icon...

And that's probably why you haven't made one. 
I make these because I enjoy it and as a way of learning the apps used to make them. I dug this icon and thats why I made an animated version of it. I'd be willing to bet almost any author who submits their work here would say they do it because they enjoy it. What about all the great icons that aren't for any specific app? should they not exist either? The game will eventually be released you know, and this is here for anyone who would like to use it when it is.
