The shade is made by adjusting the ambient and or specular shade that lite reflects off the mat. Pretty simple. THatys why you could have a red object reflect blue if you wanted to.

What is the green object reflecting on the top of each sphere? Is it a green sun? There doesn't appear to be a viable explanation for the light sources either.
I agree with the others when they say good concept - just some design technicalities.
