"Listen to some people who have been doing this a while, and take note" - oh, allright, grandpa... Look, if you don't like it, just say it. There's no need to back up your argumentation with dubious statements about "originality" and such. De gustibus non est disputandum;).
But now seriously - the IE buttons-issue will be dealt with, I simply do not have the time to do it right now. Satisfied?

I like your skin but it does suffer from some "dark issues;-)" You did a great job for a first skin.
If I may be so bold as to offer help ... one other dark skin that I've found to work pretty well is Mike Bryant's ported "Multipass Carbon" He offers a "light" version that works well with most everything. Maybe you could tweak your settings to lighten up some of the dark text areas. Otherwise, I think you have the makings of an excellent skin.

Vetical taskbar is a mess as well, with blue horizontal lines running through it.
Now, for some advise... lose the cocky attitude when people try to give you helpful feedback.

P.S. About the "cocky" attitude - nothing happens without a reason. Helpful feedback can be given in many ways - everything depends on the form. Just browse through the comments and you'll see what I mean.

and yes, the "Created by" text is telling me the skin has big flaws.

The advice at creating a lighter version is actually a good idea.
MikeB314 and danilloOc are two names that pop into my head when I think of people that have successfully creating dark skins with alternate lighter versions. Perhaps taking a look at their work might be a good idea (if you haven't already done so )
Can't wait to see the icons you've come up with.
Keep it up and like WOM says, don't let the mob get to you.

@vStyler
Here's a screenshot of StefanKa's Longhorn theme. How's my caption identical...?

If you were referring to this theme:

then know that the gloss StefanKa used is almost identical with another VS, namely Longhorn Alternative by Enhanced, Pantoni and Krezno. Guess it's about learning from others... I do believe my work is as original as it can be, for I created it from scratch.
But seriously, I don't want to talk about all this more than it's necessary. If you felt insulted by any way, then I'm sorry. I really didn't want to start a flame war.
@Night Train
As I said before, I overreacted a little. I just wanted to show you that it's easy to point out flaws other people's creations, but hard to avoid them in one's own:). For that, I

Everyone is cranky on here lately, myself included.
Now, about the blur... could you be using clear type and we are not? That might explain why you don't see it.
