Nymite I have to say this is a great start for your first skin. I myself am currently working on my fourth, fifth, and sixth skins respectively. You'll soon come to learn that there is ALWAYS something new learn when it comes to skinning in SKS and WB. Even some of the vets have questions from time to time, especially with new features. Do not take most of these comments with anymore than a grain of salt.
I rarely comment on any website, be it a forum or a download post such as this. The actions of a few rowdy indidividuals should not be an example of how much of a community this place really is. After creating artwork for the internet for awhile you'll get a thicker skin. Unfortunately this doesn't come easy as I'm sure you're quickly learning. Sonn, you may come to find out that these comments don't really matter when in the future you can create better graphics/webpages/programs/whatever than the people who disparage you.

This is a long post and I'm sorry for that. I just wnated to encourage a newcomer unlike some of the people who frequent this webspace. If you want some real comment and some help, you should come onto IRC: irc.stardock.com #stardock . Myself and alot of the people who make great skins and the Stardock programs and support this community reside there, and we (I'm speaking for myself here) can be a real assest if you wish to get constructive feedback on your work or if you run into any problems when creating your future skins. Good luck.

hi well i feel that this skin is great. i downloaded it because it just looks like the mac. however after i downloaded it, i cannot get things like shown on the picture of Anai Vs. hope u can elighten me. thx

I apologize if I had any part in the negativity but it was not my intention to do so. I probably should not have joked around by telling you to open your eyes. I was only having some fun. All I know is I saw a doctored screenshot and that is normally a sign of someone hiding things. When I mentioned you should tone down the darkness you seemed to not want to believe it. You asked for a screenshot(and I saw what you wrote before you edited it and it was not nice) so I posted one without lashing back at the comments I saw. With obvious flaws showing in the screenshot you still continued to deny some problems. Then you linked to my skins in an effort to knock me. Still I didn't get into any flaming towards you. I just don't see how I did anything wrong, however I do apologize for my involvement. Any experienced skinner knows that you cannot make an all dark skin.

Yes, i was refering to Stefanka's special edition skin that you linked to. Just beacause you created something from scratch doesn't make it original, thats not learning imo as much as it is copying, anyway, this could be a decent skin with some improvement, i just suggest in the future that you have a more receptive attitude when people try to help, cockyness will get u nowhere but disliked.

Great skin I like it but I don't think I have the right font, everything shows up in really small letters. Can you include the font in the wba or give me a spot to download it?

@vStyler - you didn't get my wordplay - by definition, everything created from scratch is "original". But that's not the point. If StefanKa didn't mind copying the gloss from someone else's theme, why should I? And seriously - I really don't think the originality of this theme is in any way dependant on the title bars:), especially since there's a "no-gloss" version. "Cockyness" says you... Well, since you repeated that statement, I would follow the advice of Jafo and re-read the comments if I were you. I am receptive, everything depends on the way "help" is delivered. This being said, I hope that we can close the topic?

By original, i meant original CONCEPT... NOT graphics,and no just beacause someone else copied does not make it right for everyone to..they teach that in pre-k.
By the way you react to comments it just looks REALLY defensive.
All im suggesting is, if you have the graphic abilty which, it seems you do, just reach a little deeper and try to make the entire skin original in concept or perhaps explain if your work shows similarities that perhaps you took inspiration from somewhere.

Ok, I get your point, even though I think you do know that I am aware of what you said in the last part of the first sentence, which makes the remark about "pre-k" obsolete. But still - the concept is far from even being similar to the StefaKa's theme. And that being said - if something is similar, it doesn't mean that it had been copied or stolen, if that's what you're implying. The WHOLE theme is an original concept, you can surely agree with that? About inspirations... come on, every second theme is inspired by the sheer construction of the OS it is meant for or the OS it is trying to emulate. I am not being defensive (and if I am, then maybe because some of you are being... REALLY offensive?) and I didn't shrug it off - but perhaps I didn't make myself clear. I just wanted to explain why I didn't check it and why it was not a priority for me. My mistake. I allready said that I'll correct it.

I've got to come to the defense of Nymite on this one. Seems that some people have forgotten that, for the most part, skinners provide their art here for free. There's no need to get exlamatory or personal in your comments.
Hate to sound like freakin' Thumper here, but if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all. If you're going to criticize, do it constructively. We can all do without the hostility.
Nymite, you handled it all pretty well. Keep it on the positive note and you'll be fine.
Nice skin. I'm sure after you've taken some of the helpful comments to heart, if you so choose to spend anymore time on this one, that this skins and your future skins will be some of the best offered up for our pleasure here.

ok Man.. hey ive been around XP skinning since it started, i wasnt really trying to ebe offensive but ive logged literally 10's of thousands of hours in it.. a LOT of that figuring out how to mkae certain combinations useable, how to find and remedy the bugs that are inherent within the confines of the XP UI.
Trying to perfect the bug free usable skin, whether it be VS or WB, alsoto be as original in concept throughout the skin, in every area as opposed to just settling for just SOME original elements and some "little white lie" copying.
Ill be honest when i read your explanations it rubbed me the wrong way. Anyway, its all good man.. ur a new skinner and i dont wanna discourage you, i just think strong critism is a good way not to have to harp on the same thing NEXT time.

Just a short note to congratulate you on over 8,000 people downloading your "totally ususable" skin. I've downloaded quite a few dark skins and yet I know this is the one I'll keep for a long time, and I'm picky. I also showed it to a friend who is extremely light sensitive and she raved about it, as did all my coworkers when they saw it. Now they have it on their computers at work, and it even convinced a few more to get WindowBlinds just so they could use Anai! I told them that there were a few buttons I came across (nothing else that I can see on my system) that had black on black text, but they were far more interested in the style, easy-on-the-eyes format, and your commmitment to upgrading the skin and being open to suggestions, and they were amazed that this was a first try. You have far more patience

than I. As a fellow artist, I often encourage others to "do what YOU want to do". Be open to suggestions, of course, but be true to your vision. Frankly, this being your first skin, I don't know how you're going to top it!...black buttons or no!

99% of my skins are dark.(must be the Scorpio in me) The worst thing for me with this skin,and I DO like it quite alot,is the Rude awakening I get with my screen screaming WHITE!!!Ow,ow.ooooowwwwwwwwwwwww.You're the only one I can think of that used white to start the ball rolling.----
