This is now my default skin. I'm doing a modified version of Charger substyle. Smaller scrollbars, darker fonts, menus with shadows... and of course a litestep theme. |
how did you got the menus with shadows? I want it.

Display:Appearance:Advance:Other Advanced Controls, and click on the white page area, you can set the coloration for the page. |
No, as I said: Display:Appearance:Advance:Other Advanced Controls. These are different variables. Desktop color is the color of the desktop when no wallpaper is set--a default wallpaper color. The variable I'm talking about--the color of the background window is what it's called in SkinStudio--is the color of a page in an application. Like if you open MS Word, in your latest version of Alysseum the page will be grayed from the default maximum brigtness and also made very slightly aquamarine. This is done the same way in all your plus skins. It was done differently in the original Alysseum. There the page was darkened--that's the same--but the tint depended on the substyle.
Page color depends on the skin. You can set it from Advanced Appearance (NOT from "Desktop"), but on a reboot it will revert to the skin's value. It is much more an integral part of the skin than is the Desktop color.

Maybe you think I'm complaining or criticizing. Well, I did like the first version better, but that's certainly not my point. In fact, I don't have a point. I'm just interested in thte process by which you made this aesthetic choice.

May I try again? Here goes: You say Alysseum Plus has a few new features and a changed color scheme. In fact, all the color schemes are substantially changed by the subtraction of a feature. The subtracted feature is that the tool bar region and the page used to match the hue of the title bar for each substyle, whereas now the hue of the toolbar and the page (in any editor-type application) is blue-green, in every substyle. Just so we're clear--my favorite in the first version was "Pirk," the eliminated one. In Pirk, the page and the title bar are reddish, because that's the substyle color. In a different shade, it is also the substyle color of "Brick," but "Brick" has a blue-green title bar and page color, not a red one, which would match. Maybe you think I'm complaining or criticizing. Well, I did like the first version better, but that's certainly not my point. In fact, I don't have a point. I'm just interested in thte process by which you made this aesthetic choice. |
Well, the original is still right... Link

The skin requires an update, since a bug is present.
In fact when you reward with the right of the mouse on the desktop> new (where the arrows are) the arrows disappear.
The same thing when, inside the folders, selections "select files for name > the arrows always disappear.
They ere not not skinned.
With the I version this doesn't happen.
Can you verify?
Your skin is too much beautiful to stay so incomplete!
I hope, with my English, to have been clear.
Maurizio.

there is a problem with the toolbar in maya (3dmodeling app) in this "plus" version that was not present in a previous version. I dont know exactly which version I was using, but it is no longer hosted on this site. it is not the same as the version hosted here because the tooltips were grey instead of that pinkish color. also the start menu is different. is there some way to bring that previous version back? I want to be able to use this skin with maya, thanks. |

this is my new default skin but let me say something on it:
(+) no shadows on windows so I can use Y'z shadow (I like the way it drops shadows more than some built-in skins do)
(+) Really thin title-bar
(+) Citron!!!
(-) User pic panel on Start menu (I put the bar on top of the screen)
(-) On the readme you should write that ClearType has to be used
(-) I like grid lines on some programs, with your skin they are almost invisible
(-) A little bit narrow scrollbar would be better
Finally I hope on a future release with some glow (and more visible) effects on window buttons.
Great Skin!
