Thank you very much for the nice feedback!
My 3 year old son is also a big fan of Lightning McQueen,
he has seen the movie too many times (we have the dvd).
To tell you the truth, I think the red grows on you after while, I may work on another windowblind skin similar to this which is just red without the CARS movie them.

It's not the kind of skin I would personally use, but I must say, you've done a great job.... Git-R-Dun

Samadhi, what specifically don't you like about it?
Obviously the theme of this project is based on a kid's movie but that alone shouldn't make it ugly.
Please be specific, I welcome any criticism.

Also the preview image that I've provided above is a lower quality jpeg, the actual skin itself is much clearer & sharper than what the preview shows.

- thank you for the great comments!

- tell me how it works out, I'm still new to windowblinds so I wasn't aware you could make & include specific sounds for these windowblind themes. If you're successful at your sound project and don't mind sharing, please email me your results, check out my profile for my email address.

cool skin for a first try are you going to do an update with it. I'm not a skinner like you but the looks of it, the skin is not 100% complete. but this skin is definitely a keeper. looking forward to it.

Thanks for the great comments. It's actually my 2nd wb but I'd consider one of my "firsts" (that actually look good enough to share). I don't plan on creating an icon package for it, I've never done something like that before and I'm not sure I have the skill set for that kind of project at this point in time. I currently use the free version of skinstudio, plan on upgrading to the full version in the new year along with all the other windowblinds related goodies. I went through every section in skinstudio for this windowblind and touched every facet that I could edit. Things I would like to check out in the future are throbbers - they sound interesting, don't know exactly what they are. I plan on working in more animations in my next skins, improving the start menu panel area and other various buttons. It's definitely a learning process, each new skin gives you ideas and then makes you want to go back and update an older skin. I'm working on my black vista basic wb right now, adding animations, improving the start panel area along with other things. It's alot of work but I haven't gotten tired yet!

I have also noticed sometimes (and maybe it's just my pc) but windowsblinds sometimes doesn't load the entire wb or should I say unload the previous wb entirely before loading a new wb. It doesn't happen everytime but sometimes I've noticed that I have pieces from another wb still in place even though I've applied a new one. A reboot usually takes care of the problem and it works again. I work on my laptop most of the time and it could be that placing it in standby frequently might be causing the problem not sure yet.

That's my motto: when in doubt reboot, then try the software again and see if windows behaves and performs as it should. This isn't just for wb but pretty much for every other piece of software I use that experiences a "hiccup" every now & again.

The throbber is a waste of skinning,it dosnt change til you reboot or kill and restart explorer. It also dosnt always blend with the background very well because the background color is taken from the top left pixel of the image.(so if your toolbar has any texturing it is interrupted by the throbber color)I did start including them just to be more complete, and they are easy to make.

My advice to you unclerob, get the full version so you can make you skins complete. You have too many recolored luna elements.(and lose the pink, hehe )
Also watch your lighting directions, some parts are top lit and some are bottom lit.
You show promise tho...keep at it.

Oh...and clean up those screenshots.(way to many elements overlapping.Make them bigger if you feel the need to show that many windows elements, but you really dont need to...just concentrate on the best looking parts that show the most details.Dont be afraid to ease up on the compression either...a bad ss gives a bad impression.

Hope I've helped rather than been too critical.

This link shows how to turn the durn thing off(throbber)...its easy,1 click and reset your toolbar views. And its reversible.
