There are two [2] entities that will determine what can and cannot be displayed/hosted on this [Wincustomize.com] site.
One is the site's Admins.
The other is any potential claimant to copyright who unilaterally requests an article's removal without prejudice to this site. [That means, for example, if Apple demands the removal of its 'apple' logo from this site they must exercise that same restriction/demand on ALL similar sites/sources equally].
Anyone outside of these two 'groups' simply has an 'opinion' which has no bearing...

The Apple Logo belongs to Apple Inc. No question there. Same with the alien head for Alienware. You're generally not allowed to use a company's marks without their permission, even if you make the image yourself in an attempt to mimic the official thing. We are pretty harsh on the use of corporate marks in submissions, since owning companies can (and have) come down very hard on the site and on the author for using them.
Then there's fan art, which these Harry Potter skins clearly are. HeirOfSlytherin made all the assets, did not use images from other sources or authors without permission, and combined them into a skin in the style and mood of the movies and books. This is not a rip, this is not an infringement of copyright, or a violation of trademark. And since they're not for sale, there's no attempt to profit off of anothers work.
Above all else, this highlights a problem we sometimes encounter in the community... Self-policing. We appreciate it when people report rips to us and help us track down users stealing work and claiming it as their own, but the correct path is to ALWAYS come to the admins and let us handle it. Users should NOT be telling other users what is and is not OK on this site. People who do this make the community look petty, elitist and uninviting.

I do have one question. Is there a special font that I need to install? My name at the top of the start menu is showing up correctly and the font looks great. But IE does not, it looks like TNR which is default so I thought maybe I needed a font.
thanks again.

Don't let that idiot upset you. This is a very popular program and site and I'm sure that if there was a problem with the copyright issues you would have already been formally contacted. Some sad souls just need to make other people feel bad to make themselves feel better. It's really sad and we should all feel sorry for those that are so low that they have to bring others down to build themselves up. You are amazing at what you do and Warner Brothers and J.K. Rowling are lucky to have such a talented person making these wonderful skins.
These wanna be copyright police are everywhere you go in the graphics community. I would bet 9 times out of 10, the ones that do this type of stuff are the ones with no talent to make things like this themselves.
You keep up the amazing work! And congratulations on another awesome piece of work!!!

For the record... even though buttermaker is being a stalking nuisance he/she does have a valid point. Even though you are not profiting from the skin, you have used the intellectual property of others for your benefit and is in violation of US law. Money does not have to change hands for the law to be broken. That is a myth.
Keep doing what you are doing. Your skins are what skinning is all about. I wish others did "themes" as well. You will find that the biggest whiners of copyrights are non skinners that have other issues.
