and hope I achieve a nice balance.
Well, I think you nailed it on the head.

As a artist, I've often wished that people would critique my work from an artistic standpoint, instead of merely pointing out a bug here or there. I like people who give me advice about the actual artistic style, and not just in skinning too. That is what really helps me grow, learn, and improve upon my artistic abilities. And that to me, is what is most valuable. (Please don't try to butter me up! lol

That being said, I was only trying to give my advice the best I can, and I hope anyone would do the same to me.

Awesome skin, I really like it! there's just a bug anywhere - on my machine the taskbar is flickering, in fact it copies the 'places-pane' over the 'program-pane'; maybe you want fix that...
Oh - and thank you for the awesome work!

But I have another monitor also attached to the same system with 22inch HD on dvi also with 1440x900 which I use as a control panel for everything else in vista....

I'd try a different resolution if I were you, more and more people will be using Calibri as time passes, if its going to be a constant source of annoyance for you.
My themes are always beta tested quite thoroughly however I can't cater to every monitor size, resolution , language, OS etc etc.

Like you said Wb and XP dont play too well with each other in some areas and yes it is quite frustrating. The button color I decided upon early, as it matched the entire rest of theme and looked better as a button in comparison to the advantages of lighter buttons that may have read better but looked worse. As you know, making a good WB is a balancing act.
It was designed loosely on the official website and I always try to stay true to the task , even if some users may find it a tad hard to read, had I lightened some areas it would have , in my opinion, been detrimental to the overall look.
As far as brown.. again sticking to the overall concept, it was that or grey, in which case it would have been dark grey throughout and even darker.
It was designed to be dark but yet vibrant and I can promise you in new lighter themes the text colors will be perfectly matched
fact is , you cant please everyone, learned that YEARS ago..I have to skin it as I see it
and hope I achieve a nice balance.
I appreciate you taking the time to examine the skin carefully and being a skinner yourself I'm sure you can make personal modifications to suit your needs.
It would be great if everyone was proficient enough to do that...ahh..in a perfect world.
Thanks to everyone else for their kind words and support, really means more than you'll ever know to me.
