I can promise you patrick24 I tried every color combination imaginable, and window color.

Like you said Wb and XP dont play too well with each other in some areas and yes it is quite frustrating. The button color I decided upon early, as it matched the entire rest of theme and looked better as a button in comparison to the advantages of lighter buttons that may have read better but looked worse. As you know, making a good WB is a balancing act.

It was designed loosely on the official website and I always try to stay true to the task , even if some users may find it a tad hard to read, had I lightened some areas it would have , in my opinion, been detrimental to the overall look.

As far as brown.. again sticking to the overall concept, it was that or grey, in which case it would have been dark grey throughout and even darker.

It was designed to be dark but yet vibrant and I can promise you in new lighter themes the text colors will be perfectly matched

fact is , you cant please everyone, learned that YEARS ago..I have to skin it as I see it
and hope I achieve a nice balance.

I appreciate you taking the time to examine the skin carefully and being a skinner yourself I'm sure you can make personal modifications to suit your needs.

It would be great if everyone was proficient enough to do that...ahh..in a perfect world.

Thanks to everyone else for their kind words and support, really means more than you'll ever know to me.

Some web page button issues can be avoided by setting the browser to not use system colors(colors button) or skinned buttons(advanced...enable visual styles on buttons and controls)

Well, I think you nailed it on the head. I hope you see that my intention wasn't to be negative. On the contrary, I think you are a very talented artist and have submitted some really exceptional work.
As a artist, I've often wished that people would critique my work from an artistic standpoint, instead of merely pointing out a bug here or there. I like people who give me advice about the actual artistic style, and not just in skinning too. That is what really helps me grow, learn, and improve upon my artistic abilities. And that to me, is what is most valuable. (Please don't try to butter me up! lol )
That being said, I was only trying to give my advice the best I can, and I hope anyone would do the same to me.

Hi there!

Awesome skin, I really like it! there's just a bug anywhere - on my machine the taskbar is flickering, in fact it copies the 'places-pane' over the 'program-pane'; maybe you want fix that...

Oh - and thank you for the awesome work!

I used to get the same before I got a new comp, all i can assume is its a memory or video card issue, the animations work flawlessly on all my beta testers machines.

Sorry if I cant be of more help.

HD with SLI using 2 GeForce 8800 GTX's with a HD 32 inch Widescreen monitor by Samsung at 1200:1 contrast rating. With 4gigs of on board memory and Vista Ultimate and XP Pro on a Core 2 Extreme CPU.

Works really well and I get some great graphics for a lot of things I use at work...

Thanks for noticing IR Brainiac - oh and your logon does very good on XP too I must say!

But I have another monitor also attached to the same system with 22inch HD on dvi also with 1440x900 which I use as a control panel for everything else in vista....

While this is a good skin with good animations and such, there are a few issues. One of them is the font in use. It's way too small and bleeds into each charater at a resolution of 1280x800. It just looks nasty when you try and read directory names and file names, let alone your program groups on the start menu. Secondsly, the spacing for the Quick Launch bar... WAAAAAYYYYY TOOOOOOO WIDE!!! There is no need for it to be this wide. Everything else looks pretty good... the middle button to close windows is a little anoying, but it goes with the design so I guess it's ok.

1280 by 800 is such a rarely used resolution the only way to cater to it is to use tahoma or some other windows system font which basically limits me in my design capacity. The font is Calibri, Microsofts "flagship font" so you'll have to take that up with them. The quick launch looks perfectly normal to me and no one else has mentioned it. As far as the middle close button, the design was keeping with the shape of the chevrons on the Star-gate. yeah it takes a lil bit of adjusting to.

I'd try a different resolution if I were you, more and more people will be using Calibri as time passes, if its going to be a constant source of annoyance for you.

My themes are always beta tested quite thoroughly however I can't cater to every monitor size, resolution , language, OS etc etc.

fonts are not affected by screen resolution...what your seeing civic is probably calibri without cleartype turned on...it has a tendency to bunh up at low point sizes...MS designed it for cleartype.

Quicklaunch is by no stretch of the imagination WAAAAAYYYYY TOOOOOOO WIDE!!!.

Hey man, this is an awesome skin! Every single graphic is amazing! But I have one problem with the start menu, it's very weird so I didn't knew what to do. This is my problem it just keeps on flashing like that and with all the animations that the start menu has, it just kind of dmages my computer in some weird way hehe, last time my computer just went black and restarted. Any help?

J. Aroche - yeah..hmm.. I have NO idea what is causing that.. I am going to forward it to stardock support, Im sure its not a problem with the graphics as most everyone one else doesnt have this happen so Its not something I can fix. Hopefully they will have a solution.
