Changing the Windows Vista boot screen is about to become a snap in Object Desktop 2009 which arrives this Wednesday. Everyone who purchased Object Desktop within the past year will automatically get this.

I can understand the whole OD 2009 thing but still wonder of bootskin for vista will be downloadable like the xp version was, free. Just wondering. I am not able to afford OD 2009 for now, but bootskin would be nice to get, just like n xp. Just wondering.

Looks nice, but...
...will the new gallery be properly moderated instead of being full of all sorts of crap ripped off the net somewhere like the current bootskin gallery?

If you think you have a process that will work better than what we have, shoot a PM to Island Dog.

It's not the job of the moderators to police the net looking for rips. If rips are reported or there is an obvious sign then action can be taken.

wonderful....just made getting vista that little bit more palatable......interested to know how they're created....the same routine?...or more simplified like the difference between logon studio and logon vista....
I remember when I first came here...all submissions were required to have the poster state that it was their original wall....or photograph.....or link to the site where they obtained the wall to verify rules of use.....or include permission of wall artist...
Perhaps it would be a good idea to go back to enforcing this, a start anyway.

Also, on a bit offtopic note, are you creating LogonStudio Vista 2.0? If so, are we gonna be able to have truly custom logon screens again (like the ones in the XP gallery)?

Life is full of OS trade-offs - Logons vs. Bootskins.

to the developers and SD!
While there might be problems and "Rips", I think a "Thank You" is appropriate when one receives something (even if paid for).
So, to Brad and the developers and any/everyone involved in the production I say a heart felt

Bootskin Pro is definitely a huge improvement over the original. For those asking, this will be a Vista only app (similar to LogonStudio Vista vs the original, as XP and Vista handle their Boot/Logon screens differently). There should be no hardware specific issues with this app, but if you are having any please post details here or e-mail support@stardock.com

Apparently "Bootskin Pro" is a Vista-only app? Tried to dl it and got an error message 'not compatible with your system'...
If it is Vista-only it'd be kinda nice if good ol' StarDock would come out with an updated version of the XP Bootskin for those of us who are Vista challenged. Hint, hint...

Well...it seems the Vista Bootskin is animation challenged...so I'm happy with good ole XP for the time being......
