When Object Desktop 2009 is released, this is where the known issues will be posted. Please post your findings here as well. Thank you!
Notes and Known Issues: (all issues are being worked on at this time)
Theme Manager 3.0 (Published at 11am)
- Aero Midnight theme included as a .suite file for Object Desktop customers.
- My Desktop / Save My Desktop: Dreams, skins and cursors sometimes do apply when saved as part of a suite. Please apply through the Applications tab as a workaround at this time.
- Applications / Cursors: Sometimes cursors take two applies before applying.
- My Desktop / Create New Theme: The Download URL function is not working at this time.
- Please update SoundPackager before applying sounds through Theme Manager 3.0.
- Users will need to open SoundPackager one time to have sound packages show up in Theme Manager 3.0.
- Fixed - On systems that do not have MyColors installed, an error about the StardockWeather.ocx file not being registered will display when applying weather gadgets.
- The Aero Midnight skin does not extract and apply 100% of the time on faster hardware.
Deskscapes 2.5 (with XP support published at 1pm)
- With a Dream file applied dragging and dropping icons from the desktop to a folder does not work at this time.
- Please visit this web site to review video card requirement details. In short, AGP Video cards are not supported at this time. Future driver updates from NVIDIA/ATI will add support later this year. At that time only AGP 8x will be supported (4x/2x/1x bus speeds are not adequate to support dream functionality at low CPU).
- The Watercolor Dream may exhibit some distortion on Windows XP.
Bootskin Pro 1.0 (published at 6:30pm)
- There is a new WinCustomize gallery for Windows Vista bootskins. Boot skins created for XP will not work with Bootskin Pro.
- Bootskin Pro allows users to create boot skins for Windows Vista, so boot skins created for XP can be re-generated and uploaded to WinCustomize.
- Bootskin Pro Create boot skin tab will attempt to read your Object Desktop Ultimate serial from the registry. If the serial number field is blank, paste in your Object Desktop Ultimate serial number to create a boot skin.
- There may be an issue with .bootskin file associations on some systems.
WindowBlinds 6.3 (published on 11/18/2008)
- Windows Vista 64-bit users may need to reboot after install if skins do not apply correctly.

@ Zargon, thanks for previous reply...
I now have Deskscapes up and running in XP Pro (SP3) with Geforce 8800 GTX driver version 6.14.11.7813.
Presently I'm unable to run both Deskscapes and IconX - is this a known limitation, or should I be able to run both simultaneously?
TIA.

XPP SP2 with all updates (except SP3)
Dell Vostro 1500 with nVidia GeForce 8600M GT integrated RAMDAC 512MB
Driver version 6.14.11.5683 (I don't think I can change this - proprietary notebook driver, yada yada)
As soon as I select a Dream then click the Apply button, I get a "Run DLL as an app" crash.
Can send additional crash info if it will help.
Would love to see how it works.
Thanks.

I think that's a related problem to the one I'm having with Avedesk. Several years back I had to quit using IconX because of a conflict with Avedesk, they seem to have a similar structure/purpose, which seems to point to a link in the conflict issues with Deskscapes.

Thanks for the feedback Bebi - possibly a dedicated Deskscapes for XP thread will pull this stuff together.

I'm experiencing some problems with Deskscapes. Running Deskscapes on Windows XP Service Pack 2.
1) I could only use dynamic dreams. Using non-dynamic dreams results in the dream opened in a new window instead of in the background and it only runs a couple of seconds before it crashes (probably at the loop point) and a message about incompatible codec appears.
2) When I use dynamic dreams, almost all of my objects on the desktop blinks rapidly. This includes ObjectDock, Rainlendar, Windows Sidebar (I'm using Vista Sidebar on XP) and CursorXP. The blinking problem does not occur if I use XP default theme, Luna for Windowblinds, default cursor (no CursorXP) but I still need to turn off ObjectDock and Rainlendar.

Ok, installed the updated bootskin pro, and now it just states that it fails to apply any skin I try.
And on a sidenote, why is the icon for email the same as the one for the controlpanel in the aero midnight iconset? Doesn't really make sense.

zargon, i always update via Impulse. anyway, i've renamed the aero midnight suite file to a zip and extracted the wb folder to where it needs to be. i now have the wb skin and it's in use. one of the oddest things is this: i rebooted numerous times yesterday and the gadgets never appeared as they should. this morning, when i turned the beast on, the gadgets were on my desktop when winders finished booting. go figure!

I too am having the issue with Theme Manager and the new Skin not being applied. It is not in WB and I cannot find it anywhere on my drive, nor for that matter can I find any of the skins (where are they?)
You should release a working app, instead of having is hunt down files on our systems and copying/renaming them in order to work.
Have you tried using a clean machine to do these installs/checking/replicating the issue, as you will have the files in the right places if you have been testing them before. Using a clean machine would obviously highlight this issue, or is that too obvious?

IconX has been discontinued for new customers so we did not test it against Deskscapes XP. Those products are not going to work well together.

This is a known issue we are going to resolve.

We are testing on clean machines. That could be the issue is that the problem is something to do with an order of installation or combintaion of applications. If WindowBlinds, IconPackager and Theme Manager are installed from scratch this problem does not exist. Please be patient, we are looking for a solution. Thank you.

Currently Deskscapes and Theme Manager are not showing up for Object Desktop 2009 (non-Ultimate) users. We will have this addressed shortly.

With any new point release there will be bugs to work out with new features etc. The SD folks are working as hard as possible to assure quick fixes.

Didn't even need to do that. All you need to do is copy the aeromidnight folder (with all the skin elements) to the WB folder, then rebuild the skin list.
