The WindowBlinds 7 skins start arriving
Monday, November 2, 2009 by Frogboy | Discussion: Personal Computing
I’m still running Windows Vista on my laptop. I’ll post more screenshots from other versions of Windows soon on this but here’s a sneak preview of Sublime, a new skin that is part of the WindowBlinds 7 beta.
To get WindowBlinds 7 early, get Object Desktop at www.objectdesktop.com .

Short of the start panel places text being too dark, Sublime is a wonderful addition. Kudos to the Author and SD.

Wizard1956 tells me he is having systray problems with this skin on Vista. I had him delete his and I packaged mine and sent it to him, still has problems. I have none! I think this is one of the coolest skins, and highest quality I have seen in a while! Thanks!!

I can't wait to try it - It's in my highest to do list!
I knew right then and there it was from treetog the moment I saw the screen
I guess SD made it available early this morning

Allow me to elaborate. The area behind the systray icons goes transparent from the clock to just beyond the show hidden icons arrow. The rest of the taskbar is normal. After I deleted and reinstalled the blind it displayed properly until I made changes to it in WB config. by adjusting transparency and reloading the skin, then the problem reappeared. I restarted explorer and it returned to normal.
This is the only skin I have ever seen behave like this so I have no idea why this is happening. I'm not using it now but if needed,I can test further.
On a side note, shouldn't the show hidden icons arrow point left or right and not up or down? (at least on Vista)

I have problems with some program menu skinning when using this skin:
Reply #11 Monday, November 2, 2009 3:54 PM
I noticed that as well while using the right click menu in IE8 .The text is very hard to read until moused over.
Reply #12 Monday, November 2, 2009 4:22 PM
looks like someone forgot to match the menu background and text color in the colors section to me
Reply #13 Monday, November 2, 2009 5:07 PM
Happens to me too with this skin, some others and also in my VXP skin on 7, perhaps to do with using a TGA for the tray image I think.

This is all for XP.
The text for the righthand startmenu is to dark.
The tray arrow is wrong. It's showing up and down.
ALL, and I do mean all, the menus are showing black backgrounds. (Start menu, favorites, taskbar and desktop menu).
ALL of the shell style images aren't done.
The logoff and shutdown dialog buttons are skinned but not applied.
The non-perpixel close and min buttons are showing pink. This is from using antialiasing over magic pink.
I like this skin, but it just looks bad, when you see this.

The non XP substyles actually have loggoff screen buttons showing.. the XP substyle, they dont work, and yes, in XP the menus \ text are solid black, I was unaware of this having only looked at it in 7. weird that its not that way on 7, It can;t have been tested on XP by anyone, I think someone would have noticed. Pity as its a great design.

Agreed..... that is only right for Win7 where the tray doesn't expand
How odd. Yeah the images or in the skin folder, just not applied
Nor is the non perpixel (bmp) panel applied even though it's in the folder

Funny, I've seen no problems with this skin....hhmmmmm...

I have the same problem as Wizard with systray. Start menu fonts were a bit dark for my taste but thats an easy fix.
All & all, it's a great skin on Win 7. Thanks Stardock
