Tranquility will work for both 1280x800 and 1280x1024. This is my latest attempt to balance form and function without giving up too much real estate. Even though the top bar is now down to 70 pixels, it still contains all of the info that I find myself using all day, every day. No external menus at all this time except for the program menus which open over the combined SysTray/Task Bar panel.
The sliding doors give you the option of either a clean or busy appearance, or somewhere in between.
Note: the calendar isn’t centered because there are a couple of months that span 6 weeks. When you go to September 2007 you’ll see what I mean.
The weather forecast appears above the icons on MO. And once again I decided against making this a dock, but….. the hidden button is back at the bottom right corner that toggles the task bar off/on (you can see it when you MO – always on top BTW). For the 1024’ers, it’s at Z 780.
The buttons on either side of today’s date are quick launches for Firefox, Outlook Express, MS Word and PhotoShop CS (L to R).
With this design I did designate the work area because I prefer all windows to open below the bar. If you don’t care about this, go to Configure Desktop Builder > Desktop > Workarea and set the top at 0.
Everything can be changed, moved and/or modified.
The WP is not loaded into the DX but is included in a separate folder (both resolutions). The WP can also be found here

LinkThe Weather and SysStat components come from two of Buzzh58’s creations, Glass and Stormy Skies. Thank you Buzz for allowing me to use them. Permission is included in the WP file.
Thanks to Gef for the sliding doors idea. No way I would have figured that out on my own.
My color choices were made to work with the GT3 and GT3 OS WB’s by Tiggz, which I use exclusively. They are the only WB’s that don’t mess with programs like Firefox (at least on my computer). Thanks Tiggz for two really great WB’s.
And of course Martin gets the hat tip once again for the marvelous job he did with the scripts.
Speaking of scripts. This was the first time I was able to edit a script (calendar) because until last week my computer crashed every time I tried. For those of you experiencing the same problem, I found a solution from Mike at StarDock Support in the following forum
LinkOnly one known and very minor issue. Sometimes at boot-up when STILL in DX Builder mode or when you open DX Builder to make changes, the task bar can be seen through the door because it reverts back to Always on Top instead of Normal Level . And sometimes the last program menu(s) toggled will also show through the Program door, because the door reverts back to Normal from Always on Top (also ONLY in DX Builder).
Opening/closing the door once clears both of these minor irritations when in Builder and it’s not a problem again for the rest of that session.
The BEST solution is to click save when you’re done making your changes with DX Builder, and then switch back to DX because it NEVER happens in DX.
Note: I suspect it’s a Windows override issue. If someone has a solution for this I’d love to hear about it. Thanks.
UPDATE: I believe I have found the solution. When you finish making your changes in DX Builder, confirm that both the Task Bar and the Program door are indicating Normal level (not Always on top), click save and switch back to DX. I think the conflict arose because I was forcing the door to be Always on Top.
Enjoy.
