Love it!  Just the only small complaint I have is this, like most, cause high CPU usage with my PC, a few do not which I heard it's the difference between mpg and wmv encoding?

its in WMV Encoding with a bit rate of 15000, its a high bit rate for crisper look and yes it will put bittt of a stress on your cpu...

One of the ones that uses little cpu and is ultra high quality for me is Spring 2013 by ChaNinja, I notice that is very different (higher) in quality than others I see.  Are there two formats here? How does Deskscapes work in that aspect?

if the cpu is putting lot of stress try..  go to setting and there is a profermance setting, try taking the slider  to the best profermance and see if that helps...

Yes I did.  To help you, it's an i7-3770k overclocked to 4.6ghz.  The cpu "load" per say isn't high, it's stopping it from dropping the multiplier automatically to x16.  When I switch to Chaninja's Spring 2013 for example, it will step down.

Based on experience from trying out these things, the bigger ones tend to eat less CPU, because the CPU doesn't have to do much other than display the frames in the file. Smaller files probably have to be processed on the fly, but I don't really get what happens.

tl;dr Bigger files, less CPU consumption. Smaller files, more CPU consumption.

I think CPU usage is directly related to the dimensions or resolution of the animated parts. So fullscreen video dreams made in HD will have the highest CPU hit, its not so much the filesize or length of the animations.

This is why I now prefer to make "hybrid" dreams which allow me to minimize the dimensions of the animated parts. So instead of one huge animation which strains the CPU, you can have several small animations layered on a static background (which can be super high resolution without CPU hit).

The downside with hybrids is you can't have that fullscreen animated goodness, well you can, but it will still take up a lot of CPU if you make the animated parts high resolution.

I'm hoping that one day PCs will have a separate dedicated processor just for playing back HD video, then Deskscapes can use that and leave main CPU for other things.

Great dream Joyton!
