I will be checking this out when I get home. If it only does half of what you say it does it should be awesome.

I think a lot of that is features of quite recent builds...[last time I read the changes.txt]...so it may pay to check the age of your 'exe'...

It packs a lot in there, but this is the real deal. Landmark work in my opinion. A beauty Johan

thx guys, I'll be updating it as feasible requests and bugs come in... as well as make it 0.24.7 compatible

Well...I must be a newbie...it didn't 'work'....LOL

I'd just popped into the Jan 31 2003 Indie and I'm not sure if that's causing an issue...or if my 'c:/lite-new' is the culprit...I'll have to search through all the rc files and check nothing is coded to the default path.
The only thing I get to work is ctl/alt/F1...
[not too good]...LOL

OK....two black squares show up momentarily and disappear...approx 400x400 pixels....a bit of drive thrashing...and then nothing....certainly no error messages of any sort.
Actually...not all of the F1 popup functions, either.
Only way to exit is to edit the base step.rc, kill the LS process and restart it via ShellON...

I'm guessing now it's the 'StyleDir'...if an option to choose one is the first thing that happens, it isn't for me....that could be it..

hmmmm, how 3 ppl can have four different problems is beyond me
Do you have a popup even though you see nothing? Try setting these lines in $configdir$vars.rc :

firstrun 0
veryfirstrun 0

hope it works.

Johan...I'm a very old hand at LiteSTEP...this is the first one I could not get to run.
I see the two black graphics of the config labels...just for a second and they disappear...leaving me with nothing...zero...zilch.
I have to edit the main step, and kill the process [exe] to reload my old shell theme.

Johan...thse lines are already set as such...it isn't that.
XP-Pro...20030131 Indie build....switching via LSCP...with ShellON, Windowblinds...nothing weird except root of Litestep.exe...[lite-new]...[c:/Litestep/] has my own multi integrated system...and an older build...too old]

hmmmmmmmmmmm, mucho weird. Does your log say anything?
Try adding these lines if you haven't configured them already:

lslogfile $litestepdir$litestep.log
lsloglevel 4

then recycle a bit, try to get it working, and send me what it outputs to that file, if anything.

Jafo. I had the same problem at first. I did notice that the firstrun and veryfirstrun entries appear in the varsc.rc in two spots each. I changed all 4 entries to 0. Then it worked (great) for me.

Johan...even recycle wasn't working....so didn't try that...
Phar0e's idea may pan out...will check that...
Good news, though...got your full install...and it worked a charm....if I can find the 'bug' and squash it then this theme will be an 11 out of 10....quite superb...

This with out a doubt the most interesting theme technical that I've come across. Pharoe is correct though you have to change those settings or all you get is two black squares, but after that this a breeze to configure very nice

Johan....I have it working..the original release...thanks to Phil's suggestion about the 2 instances of 'firstrun', etc.
Something is therefore a bit 'iffy' with that.
I experimented with changing all to '1'....to see if it would show the config section but all I got were the black squares for a 'while'...no other graphic, then back to no shell theme.
Also...when running it, my 'scroll lock' light flashes...at about 2hz....

hrmmmmm, right, well, I'll change it so the firstrun isn't on default, only when selected through the popup... which kinda defeats the purpose, but well, heh, bugger that.

Nice, just wondering if you got the title from the Argento flick or something based more in reality.
thanks
