It's possible that your issue is the dpi setting for your display. I've noticed that quite a few skins have a start menu problem if the dpi is set to anything other than 96dpi (my laptop was default set from the factory installation at 120dpi, and it messed up the start menu, setting it to 96 fixed it).
Hope that helps!

I tried that "other advanced controls" section, but the settings wouldn't 'take'. Hitting apply didn't change a thing.
Bummer...

Wasn't sure if you'd already tried it, just thought it was worth mentioning.
One thing, though, and you may already have tried this. In the appearance tab of the display settings, you have the dropbox for font size (normal, large, extra large), and in the settings tab of display properties, from the advanced button, on the general tab in the advanced properties, there's a setting specifically for the dpi value used by the display.
I figured Tiggz may only have ed the font size value from appearance, which lead me to believe that the dpi setting might still be an issue (as I saw pretty much the exact same issue you show in your image post). If dpi isn't the problem, maybe a complete uninstall / reinstall of WB might help (no idea there, but it's a common suggestion by the developers, apparently, sometimes it helps).
Good luck!

No problem with 96dpi. Unfortunately, I refuse to let the tail wag the dog and switch to that dpi because it looks ****poor on my large display. I only wish the skinners could see what others are doing where the 120dpi setting doesn't bite the skin too badly. Some do it, some don't. For others, it's a mixed bag depending on the skin.
I realize that Windows itself has some 120dpi issues and the "standard" is 96 but since there are generally no problems with the large dpi, I'm there.
If Tiggz can "fix" his skin to work, I'd use it because his work is superb. If not, I'll stick with the dozens of skins (most, actually) that do work.

I agree with you about the dpi. My laptop looks *much* better at the higher dpi given its native resolution (1680x1050).
I'm not sure if it's a WB problem overall and some skins seem to work anyway, or if it's just a skin problem, but like you say, quite a few things seem to have trouble with 120dpi.
Glad you got the problem identified.

It's happening on brewman's topax, one of the GUI entries from b0se. Most, however, don't exhibit this problem in the start menu. Some obviously do.
I don't know if the 1600x1200 rez is affecting it.
