Comment# 39 By Citizen Andres Martinez - 2/21/2005 9:02:15 AM Hey, the skin looks great. But when i use it all the task bar buttons (close, max, min.) all have black boxes around them instead of just fitting in the background. Can anyone tell me why? |
What version of WindowBlinds? looks old maybe, as 4.2 started supporting TGA for the titlebar buttons.

Great Skin! But, for some reason, I don't have the "restart, turn off, sleep" thing....how do you turn the computer off using your skin? |
These Buttons are missing in my Skin too... How could I insert them?
and another Question: How could I remove the Logo (in the right edge on the top) in the windows explorer to get the "clean" look of the windows file explorer (like in your screenshot).

1. When using the left titlebar buttons, the close button loses it's hover state when the mouse is over it. i.e. it gains the X when mouse is over any other button or near the close button but when it is actually over it, the X disappears.
2. It would be nice if the brushed substtyle also "brushed" the taskbar. :-/ It looks kinda dorky with everything else brushed but the taskbar still white.
3. The color scheme behind the blinds is such that the scrollbars that don't get skinned render the grips invisible. i.e. the little floaty thing in a scrollbar is the same color as the scrollbar background.
Again, otherwise I can see that a lot of time, effort, and skillz went into this one. Congrats. Close to an excellent skin!

Jekub, It's easy to add that drop shadow, there are a few applications that do it. WindowFX is my personal favorite. I will be releasing a OSX Perfect shadow package soon that wasn't made by me, but is what I used in my screenshot. You could also use Y'z Shadow if you wanted to, but I suggest WindowFX.
Deadboy101, The close button should appear fine, try restarting your PC/WB and/or reloading the skin. That happens sometimes for me, a simple restarting usually fixes it.
Fred Hall, I have gotten a lot of feedback from users when using the right buttons and the button order. I will consider chang

Andres Martinez, That looks like it will be your WB version. Upgrade it to 4.5 and it should be fine.
Dr. J. & iMacUser, Those aren't buttons they are shortcuts I placed in the list myself. I have a simple application that performs those actions when clicked. I simply made shortcuts to them and placed them in my start menu, or should I say apple menu
joeKnowledge, Pop me an email and I will talk to you about it.
Tombalaci, Try restarting or reloading WB, those problems aren't part of the theme, sometimes WB may act up and cause it to look messed up. Also don't use flat scrollbars. There will not be a Brushed taskbar as that was not was intended in thi

So what difference does it make at that point if the buttons are in the "correct" Windows conventional order? It still "looks" like Tiger to me...just not 100% Tiger since the buttons are on the right side anyway. If I knew how to use Skinstudio maybe I'd do it myself so I could use this great skin, but I don't. My computer is used by more folks than just me...if someone wants to demo something for me, or tech support has to come in to install a patch, they are all used to Windows conventions and will be hitting the wrong buttons too. As the author, would you want more folks actually "using" your skin, or just wishing they could use it? You could leave in the substyles you already have, just add new ones and call them -winright- or something. Hopefully, you'll consider this for a future update....Thanks....
