The more I have gone back and read both threads on this, the more I'm confused now. Brad, will you please define this in stone?
If we already have an account and make a NEW purchase, are we eligible? Your post #32 in the other thread does indicate that statement to be true.
For any of you that THINK I'm one of the ones " whining " about this, think again. People asking for postive, plain-speak clarification is not whining. There are too many conflicting statements from SD reps in this, or rather are just not specific enough.
Award, Contest, whatever.. giving away a pc is a noble thing.

But then you would not be the millionth customer. You are customer # 456,874 or whatever it may be who has made a new purchase. It's not the millionth purchase they are rewarding, i'm sure they are well past that.
Make a new account like i outlined in reply 97 and make a purchase and then you would be eligable, i assume.
Though i am waiting to see if this will be frowned upon. If not, i will be pre-ordering Elemental.
Make a new email address.
Log into Impulse and click the Impulse Orb.
Click change login, and then Create new account.
Once you have created your account and validated it and such, buy something cheap.

Hmmmm. Seems kind of elitist to give something away to someone who already HAS a computer when there is some needy, under-clocked poor person out there who could have it. I think it should be donated to an AIG exec in the name of the winner as compensation for the unfair treatment they are suffering at the hands of the sensationalist media cabal.

Yes, but that has been redfined a few times now always with the "New" suffix added.
I'll admit though it is confusing when one knows not to believe the CEO or an employee.
For the gospal truth, PM Brad perhaps.
I still can't see it being the millionth purchase though. If we are approaching 1M customers then Impulse must have well over 1M purchases. How many folks have bought more than one item. I have bought 3 games and ODU so thats 4 purchases for me, which might be a bit above the average.
I'd say Impulse would be closer to 2M purchases.
Also why reward an exsisting customer for making a purchase? That doesnt promote anyone to become a customer.
Bah...thats just my take on it.

It all makes perfect sense to me. To maximize your chances if you are an existing customer and you are taking exception to the apparent exclusion of existingness as a customer from eligibility for the awarding of the computer:
Go out and buy a new computer so that you can make your new account without being flagged as an existing user who is trying to create the acccount on an existing computer that has made an existing connection to Impulse, thereby negating any possibility of newness on the part of the wouldbe abovereferenced new user. Then buy something.

THIS IS NOT A CONTEST....with a prize.
It is an AWARD to commemorate a significant event
Guess next time you'll keep something like this quiet then huh?
You don't wave a bangin' system like that in front of people's noses, on the PREMIER GEEK SITE! The hell were you guys thinking? These folks aren't reading nothing but that system's specs!
I'm sorry but you asked for a riot when you did that and guess what, you got one.
What, you didn't think these folks wouldn't look straight down at their puters right then and there and start calculating who they need to kill?
You opened your big mouths and look what you got! Baby whines and drools!
Hilarious!

I've got a better idea; we ALL log onto the Metaverse simultaneously, institute the War-Measures act, call the WWF for instructions, throw everyone in the ring, grab our last spore module, give it to our best Korath enhanced spy & send him in passively until and only then, we can nuke it all from orbit with an arsenal of 1,000,001 BlackHole Eruptors, more or less.
Reply #114 Friday, March 20, 2009 12:04 AM
Haha, no. I've never won anything that involved luck.
That is a pretty sweet computer. Sure, I would have preferred to have had a chance at winning it, but hey, you're the ones giving it away.

He, He. The reactions here are not only expected but also (to an extent) understandable.
Why come here to the forums for current customers and make an anouncement about a kick-ass computer that can be won by anyone but current customers? This might have been better placed on the Impulse Front-Site.
Hilarious!

Iv'e said it a few times now and SD have not corrected me or had me shot so i will say it again.
Iv'e not seen anything saying that an exisiting customer is not allowed to create a new Impulse account, and therefore be a new customer, and purchase something.
I myself already have 2 Impulse accounts and am in need of a third (multi copies of GC2), i may create that account and put Elemental on my third account.
It will be a new email and new nick so it's a new account with a purchase, seems eligable to me.
Again, i've heard nothing about this being frowned upon by SD, but money is money, i'm sure they don't care if it's an entirley new customer or an exsisting one.
Seems easy enough to accomplish of your keen enough though, and shuts up the whiners.
Not hard to make another account, the facility to do so is built right into Impulse.
