Stardock's Tiles and ShadowFX Updated with Windows 10 Support

Tuesday, August 18, 2015 by Island Dog | Discussion: WinCustomize News

Stardock is excited to announce that Tiles and ShadowFX are now supported on Windows 10!

Tiles works by creating a side-bar on a user’s display. At the top of the side-bar are labels for each page such as ‘My Tiles’ or ‘Documents’ or ‘Apps’. Users can then drag and drop programs, documents, or website URLs onto Tiles. When the program is inactive, it appears as an icon. When it is active, it appears as a live preview tile. Learn more about Tiles

ShadowFX enables users to add distinctive drop shadows to the windows of Microsoft's Windows 8/10 user interface. Learn more about ShadowFX

Tiles and ShadowFX are also part of the Object Desktop suite of desktop enhancements. You can learn more about Object Desktop here. Current Tiles/ShadowFX users can update to the latest version from your Stardock account here.

Although I use neither of these, it is awesome to know that Stardock is working fervently to get their apps ready for Windows 10!

Thanks, Stardock, for making Windows useable again!

i second that redneck.personally im still waiting on windowblinds 10 and an update fix to deskscapes myself.

i do use the other things at times but those are the main things that make object desktop worth it.

along with start10 that already exists, perhaps also icon packager, but not as nessecary atm

once at least windowblinds and deskscapes are functional itll give me incentive to renew my subscription finally.i do so miss the products,

The Stardock programs I use are Fences, WindowBlinds, Tiles, ObjectDoick, WindowsFX and CursorFX.  Good they're making progress on W10 compatibility.  I have not yet received my free upgrade but I will hold off when it comes until the rest of my standard programs work.

For me it doesn't work on Windows 10. Is it because of an Windows update? My version is 1511 Build 10586.36.

Which doesn't work, ShadowFX or Tiles?

I'm running the same version and build of Windows10 as you with no problems.

ShadowFX only adds shadow to the default windows theme, it turns itself off if you have a WindowBlinds skin applied. WindowBlinds skins have their own shadows, so if you have WindowBlinds that me be your problem.

I see no reason for problems with Tiles.

Oh, sorry, I meant ShadowFX.

It worked on Windows 8 and 8.1. But now on Windows 10, the shadow doesn't change.
Does it by any chance interfere with BigMuscle's Aero Glass mod? (http://www.glass8.eu/)

I don't use the WindowBlinds 10 beta btw.
I've also had the UX Theme patch installed, but it got disabled with the Windows 10 november update (1511).
The patched dll's got overwritten by the update, so there shouldn't be anything left of the UX theme patch.

Other than Aero Glass and the Window FX beta I have nothing installed that does visual changes to Windows Explorer.

I would say that there lies your problem.

Maybe, but then this issue is also related to Windows 10.

On Win 8 I had Aero Glass and Shadow FX running simultaneously without any problem.

Besides, Window FX is working fine with Aero Glass. You would assume that Shadow FX would cause less interferences then Window FX,

since Window FX does a lot more.

However, some custom shadows are no comparison to a glass-blur effect imo, so I'll stick with Aero Glass.
