This is one of the best LCARS out there if not the best.

Thanks Brad. Coming from the designer of the original LCARS theme for DesktopX that's high praise indeed. BTW, I still have that theme.

Excellent theme, Rmart. A 1280x1024 version would be greatly appreciated...

This would be a great LCARS theme if you took out the gradients. Anyone who has ever seen Star Trek knows their systems do NOT use gradients. Dude, seriously, you need to take out the gradients or change the name.

I understand what you're saying but I modeled it after the screensaver mentioned in the notes above and justified it by saying that the screens on the shows were backlit and the gradients kind of give that effect. I know that in some areas it's a little overdone. Perhaps I'll try and tone it down in a later update but this this as it is was a h*** of a lot of work.

The idea is GREAT! And I acknowledge that it took a lot of time and work. But, the gradients gotta go - (says the person who wrote two episodes of Star Trek for Paramount). I'd be willing to pay for an entire WinStyles theme (ALL ITEMS) based on the "accurate" depiction of the LCARS system displays.

I'd even be willing to help create them.

Now we're getting somewhere. I'd be happy to entertain any suggestions and help that you can offer. Understand though that an accurate depiction of the LCARS system would be difficult, (and probably impossible), to translate well into an attractive as well as functional Windows theme. Yes it would be great if it could be done but you still have to work around Windows.

email me. We'll talk

Ok, if you're willing, so am I. I am going to download your theme and see what I can do to make it match true LCARS more realisticly.
Basically, all you would need to do is fill in all gradient images with solid colours. Keep the images and the theme but replace the gradient images with the same images in "solid" colour. That is the only change this TREKKIE sees that needs to be done.
I can't seem to find your email address so here is mine:

Nice looking theme Just one thing i don't quite understand if your esteemed critics have such a hard time absorbing the fact that you used gradients to get a specific effect. You would think that if they truly feel that their way would be better that there would be at least one more LCARS theme popping up on this site?

Well, there are plenty of LCARS themes here. Just search for LCAR under DesktopX. You'll find them. Everyone has different tastes I guess. I welcome criticism from people who have constructive opinions or who have proved that their own contributions have worth. I am working with Mr. King in producing a LCARS theme that will hopefully satisfy all of those who don't like the gradient look.
